ADARE TO SURVIVE WITH CLIONA’S FOUNDATION: Adare to Survive is a 7.5km military style obstacle course taking place in Clonshire Equestrian Centre, Adare, Co Limerick on Sunday 29th September. MILFORD HOSPICE FUNDRAISER: Following a recent meeting in Meanus to organise a fundraising event in the Parish for Milford Hospice, this Saturday September 21 has been pencilled in as our day. A five hour ‘Hurlaton’ will be held in the local GAA field where all past and present hurlers of Camogue Rovers and indeed neighbouring clubs are invited to “Hurl for Milford” at some stage between 12 noon and 5 p.m., whether your fitness levels will last five minutes or five hours all are asked to take part and donate to Milford Hospice. At 5p.m. a “Parish Walk for Milford” will begin around the walking track when every parishioner will be asked to turn out in support of the great work being done by Milford Hospice. WELLNESS WORKSHOP: The Limerick Federation of the ICA are holding a full day training session at the Day Care Centre, Drombanna on October 12th from 9.30am to 5pm. Such sessions are being held countrywide by SOS that is ‘Suicide or Survive’ aimed at promoting good mental health and combating negative and destructive psychological conditions. TIDY TOWNS: People may be disappointed that we only received an additional 5 points in this years national competition. Judging took place on the Saturday before the visit of Caroline Kennedy. Accordingly most of the great work carried out in the lead up to June 21 had not taken place. However, this will give us a great start for next year and completion of the Playground together with the Carebright building should contribute to a much higher mark. After the amazing year that we had, there is a lot to be positive about. Thank you to all the people who contributed so much throughout the year and especially for the visit and the Gathering.

LIMERICK WEST GIY: with the aim of inspiring people to grow their own food goes back indoors for the next few months as we return to D & M Garden Centre, Croagh on Thursday September 19 where the subject for discussion will be The Winter Garden and Perennial Vegetables. The meeting will start at 7pm sharp and all are welcome from the beginner to the experienced old hand. As with all GIY meetings there is no charge to join in.
BRUFF BLUE GRASS FESTIVAL: The fifth Annual Blue Grass Festival will be held in Bruff on October 3, 4, 5,and 6 . This year’s events commences with the interviewing and crowning of the Morning Star Rose on Thursday Oct 3 and Friday October 4. On Saturday morning, 5th October the Longboat Memorial 10k run will take place also a 50k cycle with Limerick 95fm broadcasting live from the town. The Parish Mass at 6p.m. on Saturday evening will include Gospel music with a band from Northern Ireland. Sunday Oct 6 will commence with a Hillbilly Tractor Run in aid of the Cliona Foundation with registration at 11 a.m. at Clancy’s Pub. A donkey Derby will take place in the afternoon and a Soap Box Derby. The Festival will draw to a close on Sunday evening with a Fireworks Display at 8pm. There will be an abundance of music in all the pubs each night with the following bands taking part: Tin Box Company, Woodbine, Bending the Strings, Knotty Pines String Band, Down and Outs and Well Enough Alone. This is surely a great weekend’s entertainment in Bruff.
