MATCH REPORT – DESMOND LEAGUE LADIES U12 DIVISION 1: Adare United 2, Kilcolman Rovers 1. On a glorious sunny Saturday morning, Adare U12’s hosted Kilcolman in a very entertaining first game of the season cheered on by large numbers of supporters of both sides in Deer Park. A large number on players were making their debuts for the U12 team having spent last year learning the basics of the game at U10 level. For them, it was their first introduction to competitive soccer on a full-size pitch. Playing with the slope, Kilcolman attacked from the kick off and Adare’s goal remained under sustained attack with the defence holding firm under sustained pressure. A number of clear-cut chances for Kilcolman were either saved by Adare’s goalie on cleared at the last minute by Adare’s defence. Mid-way through the first half, Adare managed to get on top of Kilcolman and scored a fine goal leaving Adare leading one to nil at half time. Adare introduced two substitutes at half time and continued to attack. Some fine inter-play between the Adare midfield and forwards led to a second goal for Adare early in the second half. Adare introduced three more substitutes during the second half giving game-time to the maximum number of players permitted by the Desmond League. Kilcolman kept attacking and their efforts were rewarded with a fine individual goal just before the final whistle. Adare’s squad for the match – Jessica Evans, Grace Feighan, Heather Alfred, Aileen Thomas, Siobhan Lowry, Mary Ann Canty, Annie Giltinane, Carla Griffin, Ava Kiely, Jean Morrissey, Amy Looney, Sally Smyth, Cara Quinn, Ciara Moroney, Martha Stack, Faye Morgan, Ella Curtin, Anna Mockler, Jennifer McGann.
