Parish Clerks Collection: This weekend September 21/22 the parish clerks collection will be taken up in both Feohanagh and Castlemahon Church. We all appreciate and are most grateful for the good work of Sacristans Ann Lomasney, Feohanagh and Julia Foley Castlemahon. In recognition of the service of both sacristans a good response to this weekends collection will be appreciated. please note that envelopes need to be marked Feohanagh and Castlemahon.
Set dancing classes: Children’s set dancing classes resume with Brigid Falahee and her great helper Nicole Brouder on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm in the parish hall, Castlemahon. All interested in taking part are welcome to attend.
WLCR 102 Car Boot Sale: The monthly fundraising car boot sale and indoor market in aid of WLCR 102 will take place on Sunday 29th September at the community centre, Newcastle West and gates will open at 7.30am . Your support as always will be greatly appreciated.
Castlemahon History Group: Preparations are continuing for this years Parish Annual and already suitable material for the journal has been submitted. It would be appreciated if the Parish organisations and the usual regular contributors would submit their suitable material at their own convenience please, the next meeting will take place in the parish hall, Castlemahon. Wednesday 25th Sept at 8.30pm.
Jean Anne Benefit Dance: A benefit dance organised by the Flag Floor Committee, Carrigkerry in aid of the Jean Anne fund which will take place at Rathkeale house hotel on Friday October 4 at 9pm. Music by Maura and Donie Nolan and friends. Jean Anne Sheehy is Declan Lenihan’s partner from Feohanagh and your support will be greatly appreciated. Admission is €10. Spot prizes galore on the night and all are welcome.
ICA: The guild resumed on September 2nd after summer recess. Unfortunately one of our longest serving members, Mai O’Connor, passed away during the holidays. Sympathy was expressed to the family and relatives on this sad occasion. Sympathy also to the family and relatives of Ita O’Brien, William O’Brien, Carmel Cregan, Mary Smith, Peg McDonnell, Noel Hurley, Patrick Sheehan, Patricia Barrett, Seamus Vaughan, May they Rest in Peace.
The president congratulated all the members who won prizes at both the Newcastle West and Limerick Shows. Ann O’Sullivan was the raffle winner. Mary O’Connell and Nuala Condon attended the federation meeting in Kilmallock on June 27th, They informed us of all the happenings on the federation. Teresa Cregan-Stack, Nutri Fit, Newcastle West is guest speaker at the meeting on September 23rd. Hostesses on the night are Margaret Keating and Annette Coughlan. The competition on the night is for any 3 flowers from the garden.
Mary Canty sports and leisure officer is organising a walk on September 28th at 11.00am Get Well wishes to all those ill at the minute.
Sympathy: The death took place on Friday Sept 13th of Kitty McMahon nee Curtin, Ballyreagan, Castlemahon and formally of Churchtown Newcastle West. Deepest sympathy to her daughters Ann and Bernie Son in law Michael, Granddaughters, nephews, nieces and all the McMahon and Kennedy family Castlemahon. May she Rest in Peace.
