RECENT DEATHS: The death has occurred of Martin (Matt) Byrnes, Feoghanagh, Ballydavid, Kerry and late of Edgeware, London and Mount Bruis, He is survived by his wife Maureen (nee O’ Connor, Ballyroe), children Kate, Martin and Marie, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, relatives and friends. Following requiem Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dingle, burial took place in Kilquane Cemetery.
The death has also occurred of Ina O’Sullivan (née Nunan), San Francisco, and late of Ballyrobin. She was predeceased by her husband John L. late of Mount Fox, Kilmallock, Co. Limerick and her sister Frances Ryan Ballyrobin. She is survived by her family Patrick, Gregory and Martha, sister Pauline Daly, relatives and friends. Mass for the happy Repose of her soul was celebrated in the Church of the Assumption, Lattin, on Sunday, July 7, at 11am.
Sympathy is extended to Margaret McCarthy, Principal of Cullen N.S. on the death of her father, Kevin McCarthy, Coilbee, Listowel and late of Croughcroneen, Lixnaw.
LATTIN LAWN TENNIS CLUB: Our Tuesday tournaments continue each week from 7 to 8.30pm. Saturday coaching: Our Saturday coaching continues each week from 10.30 to 12 with Jenny and Lisa. Children aged 4-10 years are welcome at a cost of €2. All players must be members.
Junior Open American: Our Junior Open American will take place on Saturday, July 27. Ages 9-11 and 12-14 will play from 10am to 12.15, ages 15-18 will play from 12.30 to 2.30. Cost of entry is €5. All are welcome.
SOCCER: At the recent AGM of Cullen-Lattin FC the following officers were elected; Chairperson Hilda Kenny, Secretary Mike Kenny, Ass. Secretary P.J. O’Brien, Treasurer Gerard Riordan, Ass. Treasurer Stephen Hayes. Tributes were paid to James Hayes who stepped down as club secretary after many years in the position.
Eighty-three children attended the club’s very successful summer camp which was blessed with favourable weather throughout the week. A special word of thanks to Betty Nash, Hilda Kenny, Mike Kenny and all the volunteers and coaches who helped out during the week.
