MURROE COMMUNITY ALERT: The next meeting of Community Alert will take place on this Thursday, February 21 at 8 pm in the Muintir na Tíre Hall, Murroe. The agenda will include the setting up of the text alert system and the telecare system and all are welcome to attend.
BOHER COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION: Boher Community Development Association held it’s AGM on Wednesday night. There was a very large attendance. Outgoing Chairman Owen O’Neill thanked the Officers, Committee and the community for all their help and support during his term of office. He thanks everybody involved in the refurbishment of the Community Centre and encouraged people to continue to use the centre. He commented on the excellent fund-raising events, which leave a healthy bank balance at the end of the year. Members of the committee paid tribute to Owen for his determination, enterprising ideas and commitment to community development in Boher. The elected officers for the coming year: Chairman, Pat O’Connell; Treasurer, Pat Walsh; Secretary, Sarah Fitzgerald; PRO, Mary Ryan.

MURROE TIDY TOWNS: Murroe Tidy Towns are holding a Table Quiz on Friday, March 1, at Crokers bar and all are welcome. A table of four will cost €20-00 and your support would be very much appreciated.
MURROE AFC: The girl’s under-16 team drew 0-0 with Regional last weekend. Murroe dominated the game but could not get the breakthrough through stout defending for Regional. Shauna Ryan and Sarah Clohessy impressed. The under-12’s also played Regional and lost 5-0. Ciara Greaney, Emily Jane Hayes and Roisin Crowe did well for Murroe. The A team won 2-0 at home to Prospect with Alan O’ Carroll and Eoin Hartnett scoring. In the under-11’s premier, the boys drew 1-1 with Galbally with Jamie Newton netting for Murroe. The under-15’s lost 3-1 with Sean Hanly scoring for Murroe.

MURROE TWINNING GROUP: The Murroe Twinning Group will be hosting a Cake Sale on March 8 & 9 across from the Roman Catholic Church at the GAA Clubhouse. There will be various baked goods available. Please stop by around 7 pm on the 8th and Noon on the 9th to tantalize your taste buds. This fundraiser will help the Twinning Group as they host the French this autumn. MURROE-BOHER GAA SENIOR DRAW: Murroe-Boher senior hurlers now know the details of their opponents in this year’s County Championship and it is vital that a good start is availed of as four teams are being relegated this year in a change for 2014 championship. One of the teams in Murroe-Boher’s group for this year is Adare who will be a tough nut to crack with Knockainey and Bruree the other two teams. Murroe-Boher face Adare in the first round in the middle of May and this should set down a marker for the form of the locals. Senior training is now underway under manager Ger Hegarty and selectors Sean O’Neill and Michael John O’Brien.
IRISH MOTOR NEURONE DISEASE ASSOC 5K WALK: The Community of Pallasgreen have come together to fundraise for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association with a 5km Walk on Saturday, February 23. As you may be aware a member of Pallasgreen community is at present battling this incurable disease. This walk is hoping to raise much needed funds for the research and wonderful care carried out by the I.M.N.D.A. The walk commences at 2 pm from the Pallasgreen Community Centre. The route will take you to one of the most scenic and spectacular areas of County Limerick with rolling hillsides and views of natural beauty finishing back at the centre where refreshments will be served. Everyone is invited to come along and support this very worthy cause. All are welcome. On the day the I.M.N.D.A. will have a stand set up at the Community Centre in Pallasgreen in order to provide information about the organisation and the services proved including:· home visiting by an M.N.D. dedicated nurse, · financial assistance towards home care help & · provision of specialist medical equipment and appliances on loan free gratis to clients. · Support of research into the causes and treatment of the disease.
WITNESS MUSICAL: The Witness is a musical by Carol & Jimmy Owens. The Witness is the story of Jesus, told and sung by Peter and the other men and women who knew the Master best. Featuring a great cast and coordinated by Fr. Terry Loughran. “The Witness a Musical”, will be presented by the Diocese of Limerick, in the Lime Tree Theatre, Mary Immaculate College, on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 at 8 pm. FRIENDS OF LIMERICK ‘73: Friends of Limerick are a recently formed committee with the aim of raising funds for Charity. The Charities we have chosen are Milford Care Center, MS Limerick and Lisnagry Association Limerick with all monies raised divided equally between the three Charities. With this idea in mind and this year 2013 being the 40th anniversary of Limerick last All Ireland Senior hurling title win, it is hoped with co--operation of the Players of that famous panel to get replica Limerick jerseys and hurleys autographed. The jerseys and hurleys will be auctioned and raffled. Friends of Limerick’73 will be launched in Moore’s Bar Doon on Saturday 23rd February 2013 at 8.30pm followed by table quiz at 9.30pm all are welcome.
