Anniversary/Remembrance Mass : Mary O’Neill (Bruff) Jerry McAuliffe (Late 3 Barrack Street & Birmingham) who died recently, Marie Power (Riverside House).

October Devotions: Rosary and Benediction will continue at St Andrew’s Church this Sunday evening at 7pm which is the last Sunday of the October Devotions. You are invited to make a special effort to attend.

NOVEMBER Month of The Holy Souls: A Special Mass will be celebrated on Saturday 2 November at 6.30pm to remember the souls of the departed, and for the souls of parishioners of Kilfnane who died during the past year. Family friends and neighbours will be welcome to the Mass. Families are requested to hand in a photograph of their loved one to the Sacristy in advance of this Mass. The Photograph will be displayed before the altar for the month of November with a special candle beside it.

SYMPATHY: Sincere Sympathy is extended to Shirley Fitzgerald and family (Ballinanima) on the death of her mother Mary O’Neill, 4 Fair Green, Bruff on Tuesday last 15 October; to Michael McAuliffe (3 Barrack Street) on the death of his brother, Jerry McAuliffe (late of 3 Barrack Street) who died in Birmingham on Thursday last 17 October; and to the family of Brendan Ryan, late Low Bridge, who died in Twickenham London on Sunday last 20 October (Burial will take place in Kilfinane). MILFORD HOSPICE FUNDRAISING EVENTS WELL SUPPORTED: Last weekend there were two fundraising events in Kilfnane in Aid of Milford Hospice. On Friday night Scoil Pol was the venue for the Fundraising Table Quiz , where 13 teams participated in a very enjoyable competition. On Saturday last 19 October, the inaugural 5km Walk of Life in Kilfinane attracted a very fine turn out which assembled at The Church Car Park, and walked on the Wood Road onto Magner’s and back into town on the Ballinlyna road. Aided by very fine weather conditions, the walkers took in the local scenery and were surprised by the very fine views of many parts of Co. Limerick that could be viewed as well as helping raise funds for a very worthy cause. Well done to those who organised and participated in the events.

KILFINANE RED CROSS TABLE QUIZ ON FRIDAY NIGHT: Kilfinane Red Cross will hold their Annual Table Quiz on this Friday night 25 October at The Mill Bar at 8.30pm sharp. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

PLAYERS HONOURED: Last weekend three former club players who died as a result of accidents were honoured when Blackrock Bord na nOg Club played three Underage Hurling Finals. On Saturday evening at The Michael Fox Memorial Park, Blackrock Under 13 Hurlers played Bruree for the Tommy Sheehy Memorial Cup. The Cup was presented to Mark Cleary the Blackrock Captain after their win by Dave Sheehy, while the Under 15 Hurlers defeated Granagh Ballingarry to retain the Maurice Cahill Memorial Cup which was presented to the Captain of the winning Blackrock team Colm O’Neill by Bertie and Marian Cahill. On Sunday at midday local rivals Blackrock and Glenroe Under 10 hurlers met in the Denis O’Dea Memorial Cup Final and Blackrock claimed victory. Patrick O’Dea presented the Cup to Blackrock Captain Donnacha O’Dea. Another club player was honoured some weeks ago when the John Carroll Memorial Cup was presented at the South Junior ‘B’ Football Final to the Captain of the winning Camogue Rovers team by Alice Carroll.

JUNIOR HURLERS In COUNTY SEMI FINAL on Saturday: Blackrock will make the journey to Ballyagran on this Saturday 26 October to play West Champions Templeglantine in the County Junior ‘B’; Hurling Championship Semi Final (Check Sports Pages GAA Fixtures). Both sides have won their respective Divisional League and Championship titles this year and in fact they met in the County League final in Feenagh on Tuesday 2 July when victory went to the West Champions by 0.13 to 1.09. A very close game should be in prospect where Blackrock will hope to reverse the result of the league final encounter.

THANK YOU for USED POSTAGE STAMPS: The Salesian Sisters in Limerick wish to Thank all those handed in used postage stamps during the year for their missionary work and they ask that people would continue to collect used postage stamps, and to leave the stamp on the envelope top, and leave them with Chris Gleeson, Main Street who will hand them over to the sisters.

GLENROE/BALLYORGAN ACTIVE GROUP: A very enjoyable meeting was held recently with a great group attending. Tara Boelens (Ballintubber) had a wonderful display of Art scenes on hand and also gave a great account of her teaching. If people are interested in taking part in a class please contact our group number at 086 4569922 , or Tara at 086 8198829. You can come with your hands hanging - no need for paper or colours, you will be accommodated. The class can be organised in the Glenroe Hall for a session of two hours either morning or evening and we all know the long evenings and short days are ahead of us. A trip has been organised for Tuesday, 12 November. We are getting a guided tour of Cork Gaol and also tea/coffee/scones. We are heading for another guided tour of UCC, shopping at Blarney Woollen Mills. There is also an option to visit Blarney Castle and Gardens, this will cost €10.00 extra. Dinner on the way home at Springfort Hall. Total cost €30.00. 
The trip is also open to people outside our group and we would also be grateful if you would get your name and €30 to Mary Coffey, Ballyferode before Tuesday 5 November.
