KENRY HISTORICAL SOCIETY: Following the successful tours of Pallaskenry and Kildimo during the ‘gathering’ events, the society goes indoors for lectures in November/December. The first lecture is in Pallaskenry Community Centre on Wednesday November 13 at 8.00 pm. Dr Gerard Curtin will deliver a talk on the material that earned him his Doctorate from Mary I and UL, namely ‘Crime, Popular Protest and Society’ in the years 1820 to 1845. This was a very disturbed time in Kenry and in areas locally and the subject is sure to interest. The lecture is open to members and non-members alike.

KILDIMO NATIONAL SCHOOL: The ‘Parents Association’ is holding a fundraising home produce sale at the school on Sunday November 24. Lorraine at 086 4035717 or Deirdre at 086 3016330 would like to hear from you if you have homegrown produce or jams, chutneys or similar delectations to offer this worthy cause.

REDEMPTORIST CHURCH: In celebration of 150 years of Christian Worship, Fr Brendan McConvery of the Order will give an outline of its history on Wednesday and Thursday October 23/24 at 8.00 pm in the church. All are welcome.

BANTRACHT NA TUAITHE: Mass for deceased ICA members & their families will be celebrated by Fr Michael Browne SDB on Thursday October 31st in Kildimo Church at 10am. All are welcome.

CHANGING TIMES: With the move to Winter Time the local ICA guild meetings will be held at the earlier time of 2.30pm at ‘The Seven Sisters’Pub, Old Kildimo on the first Wed of each month commencing on Wed November 6th 2013 until the clocks change again.

KILDIMO AFC: On Saturday October 26 there’s a full day training camp in Goalkeeping for all ages at Kilcornan. This costs €10 per child with concessions for multiple family members. The annual Underage Halloween Fancy Dress Disco in the Seven Sisters on Sunday October 27 from 4pm to 6pm. Spot prizes for all ages on the day including adults for the best costumes worn on the day. In association with the Kildimo National School we are running a Halloween Art Competition for all ages in the school with prizes being presented at the disco and all art work will be on display in the Seven Sisters. Many thanks to Principal Aoife Foley and her Staff for their support and help in the running of this competition.

GAA TABLE QUIZ: Start sharpening your wits and picking your team for the Table Quiz at Dromore Inn on Saturday October 26. Tables of four cost €40 and the honour of winning will be rewarded with an appropriate cash prize.

DANCE FOR THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL: A 60’s night will be held at Bulgaden Castle on Friday October 25, all proceeds going to the Crumlin Hospital. ‘Crystal Swing’ is the main attraction with ‘Old News’ as their support. All ‘children’ of that swing era are welcome for a mere €10.

NOVEMBER PRAYERS FOR THE DEAD: Prayers will be conducted in the following graveyards on Sunday November 3: Killurach graveyard at 2.00 pm, Ardcanny in Mellon at 2.45 pm and Kildimo at 3.30 pm.

CRAFT FAIR: Mary Conway is organising a Christmas Fair at the ‘Seven Sisters’ on Sunday November 10 from 1.30 pm. Shop local and early for Christmas and choose from a wide variety of arts and crafts, or book a stand by contacting Mary at 087 6521806.

GAA LOTTO: This popular weekly continues at different locations on Monday evenings. The draw on October 14 for a Jackpot of €5,500 was not won as no member predicted the winning combination of 7, 13, 16 & 27. Lucky Dips of €50 were drawn by George O’Rourke, John Gleeson, Parents & Toddlers Group & Ava O’Brien.
