MATCH REPORT – DESMOND LEAGUE LADIES U12 DIVISION 1: Adare United 0, Askeaton 2. On an Autumnal afternoon, Adare U12’s hosted Askeaton in a very entertaining game cheered on by large numbers of supporters of both sides in Deer Park. Playing with the slope, Askeaton attacked from the kick off and Adare’s goal remained under sustained attack with the defence holding firm under sustained pressure with Adare’s goalie stopping anything that got past them. Askeaton played some lovely football and eventually their winger broke through and chipped a shot into the top of the net. Akeaton led 1-0 at half time. Adare introduced a substitute at half time and went on the attack. Some fine inter-play between the Adare midfield and forwards was, however, thwarted by a very strong Askeaton team. Askeaton had a fine move down their left and scored a second with another unstoppable shot high into the net. Adare introduced four more substitutes during the second half giving game-time to the maximum number of players permitted by the Desmond League. Adare’s squad for the match – Grace Feighan, Heather Alfred, Aileen Thomas, Siobhan Lowry, Mary Ann Canty, Annie Giltinane, Carla Griffin, Ava Kiely, Jean Morrissey, Amy Looney, Sally Smyth, Cara Quinn, Ciara Moroney, Martha Stack, Faye Morgan, Ella Curtin, Anna Mockler, Jennifer McGann, Louise Butler, Megan Cable-Norris, Kate O’Donnell, Marie Butler, Grace Curtin.
