This event will take place on the grounds of Galbally Rugby Club, Co. Limerick, where Donal’s uncle Andrew and cousins are active members and players. To participate in the jump, sponsorship cards of 25 lines at €10 per line are available. There will also be a BBQ and bar facilities available on the day for those who may need some encouragement when their jump time approaches. Family fun activities will also be provided to make this a thoroughly enjoyable day for jumpers and spectators. GALBALLY GOLF SOCIETY: On a sunny Friday afternoon, 31st March ’13, twenty-four members of the Galbally Golf Society turned up at Castletroy Golf Club, Limerick, to contest the second outing of the 2013 season. The competition of the day was ‘Singles Stableford’ and the Captain, Kevin Collins, together with Joe McGrath, efficiently organised the finances and getting groups away on the first tee box. Due to the improvement in the weather over the past couple of weeks, the local rule for the day was ‘play as it lies’ which took some people by surprise as they have been playing ‘pick and place on the fairway’ all year. When everyone had played their round and were enjoying a hot meal in the Clubhouse, Joe McGrath announced the prize winners in reverse order with the Captain, Kevin Collins presenting them. In the ‘2s’ competition two players, Paul Meade and Jimmy Cagney, managed a ‘Birdie’ on a par 3 hole and therefore shared the kitty. ‘Longest Drive’ went to Noel Ryan and ‘Nearest the Pin’ was Paul Meade. In the Category ‘B’ section, those with handicaps of 19 or more not featuring in the main prizes, second place went to Josie Dunne (28) with 35 points and the winner was Eddie Scully (19) with 37 points. The main prizes went to, third place, Stephen Lyons (18) with 35points (a guest, therefore not eligible for first two prizes), second was Johnny Morrissey (13) 34 points and the winner of the day was Jimmy Cagney (22) with 40 points. With the prize giving over the Captain, Kevin Collins, congratulated all the prize winners and thank everyone for turning up and hoped that they had all enjoyed themselves on such a pleasant evening. He also reminded them that the next outing would be at the Goldcoast Golf Club on Saturday 22nd June with a 12.30pm start time and also to keep an eye on our Facebook page and Web site www.galballygolf.com for news and information.
