LOUGH DERG PILGRIMAGE: A number of people from the parish have expressed an interest in going to Lough Derg for a three day pilgrimage. Abbey Coaches are running buses on Tuesday 2nd July and Friday 26th July with pick up in Limerick City. The cost is €120 which includes bus, boat, accommodation and “refreshments” on the island. You may have considered going at some stage but did not know where to start or did not fancy going with strangers so now is an ideal opportunity. TOP STAR IN CONCERT: One of the top entertainment artistes in the country is on the way to Adare in the person, Michael English who will appear in concert at Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel on Saturday night, 8th June. Currently riding high with ‘High Five’, one the most popular songs of the year, Michael English made his first major appearance on the Late Late toy show on RTE when he was just 12 year’s of age. He subsequently went on to become a major star on the dancing circuit and captured national attention with a Henry McMahon song, ‘The Nearest To Perfect’. GRANGE FIRST HOLY COMMUNICANTS & CONFIRMATION CHILDREN: A special mass will take place in Grange church on Sunday the 9th June 2013 @ 9.30am to celebrate the Grange children who have recently received their First Holy Communion & Confirmation. NEW CLOTHES SHOP OPENING IN BRUFF: Margy Kenny who is managing Kenny’s Arcade in Hospital will be opening a new boutique –‘Raspberry Red’ – in Bruff on Thursday the 6th of June. The shop will be in the building that was formally Quiltys – thus carrying on the business of selling quality clothing that the Quilty family was renowned for. Margy has already made a big impact in Hospital. The shop will cater for all sizes and tastes. It will stock many labels for occasion, work and casual wear. It will also stock uniforms for many primary schools including the full school uniform for Bruff Primary School. She also stocks the uniform for the secondary school in Hospital. Kennys Arcade will remain open in Hospital supplying school uniforms and also specialising in plus sizes from size 16 to 26.

BRUFF COMMUNITY PLAYGROUND: Fundraising for the playground has fortunately reached the target of €30k, due in part to the magnificent response locally to the Duck Race, Dog Night and other events held, but also in great part, to the recent large donation from the JP McManus Foundation! BORD NA NOG NOTES: The U12 footballers showed great steel on Thursday night to record a 2 point victory against Pallasgreen. 2 points down at halftime and playing against a strong breeze in the second half the boys fought tenaciously for every ball and ended up 5-4 to 4-5 winners. Craig Finn in goals brought off a couple of great saves and with outstanding displays from Eoghan Murphy, Darragh O’Brien, Paudie Mulcahy, Ross O’Brien and Gearoid O’Leary and significant contributions from the younger players Cillian Bennett, Diarmuid Dennehy, Josh Keating, Jack Gunning and Darragh Butler ensured a good victory. Well done to the u14 hurlers who had a fine win in their opening game against Ballybrown in the Division 1 championship on Wednesday night. Danny O’Leary banged in 3-3 in the the first 15 mins to set the boys on their way, Joe O’ Connell burst through to score a 4th goal to round off a great first half. Against the wind in the second half the defence stood firm with fine displays from David Mulqueen and Patrick Ladderman. An excellent performance from midfilelder John Bateman and 3 late points from Tim McSweeney rounded off a great evening. We hosted an U10 blitz last Saturday with Bruree and Ballybricken visiting. In total we had 33 players split into 2 teams, Some fine displays by Rory Coleman, Kenny Pearce, Evan O’Neill and John Foley ensured good victories against the opposition.
