SISTER MARGUERITE KEMP: Sister Marguerite Kemp has passed away on May 27, 2013, in London. She was formerly of Glenstal, Murroe and was a sister to Jack and Billie Kemp. She was with the Sisters of Charity in Ealing, London and her funeral will take place in London on June 10. She is regretted by cousins relatives and friends and there will be a memorial mass for her in Murroe at a later date.
MURROE/BOHER CAMOGIE CLUB: Murroe-Boher Camogie won their first bit of silverware for the year after the under-14’s, who, after a fantastic game of camogie, beat Cappamore on a score-line of 1-7 to no score. They started strongly and played with the wind in the first half and lead at the break 1-4 to no score. The girls fought hard for every ball and had to defend extremely well to keep Cappamore out. The second half was no different with the girls keeping up the pressure, showing great skill, heart and determination and added on a few more scores and they had to withstand a late goal chance by Cappamore only for Anna Madigan to pull off a great save. There was great rejoicing at the final whistle and Niamh Clohessy accepted the plaque on behalf of the whole team. It was well deserved and will give them a great confidence boost for Féile. Huge congratulations must go the whole team and also to the management team of Mike Cunningham, Geraldine Cunningham and Fiona Toomey. The panel was: Anna Madigan, Aoife O’Connor, Meabh Bartley, Amy O’Halloran, Aisling Cunningham, Niamh Clohessy, Hazel Hourigan, Sarah-Jane Barry, Katie Heelan, Karen Cunningham (0-5), Edel Cunningham, Orla Regan, Deirdre Crowe, Sophie Heelan (1-0) and Anne White, Subs: Sinead McElligott (0-2) Leonie Kelly, Courtney Hannon, Jayne Ryan, Aoife Kinsella, Jade Hurley, Lisa Meehan, Kayla McCann, & Aoife Ryan. The Murroe-Boher camogie club would sincerely like to thank everyone who attended the coffee morning/cake sale recently. There was a massive turn out and a great atmosphere around the place and a huge thank you to everyone who baked and provided their services for the morning. Well done to the under-12’s who won their 2nd league game last week against Croagh and well done to the under-8/under-10’s who played Doon in a challenge last week.
MURROE ICA: Breda Fitzgerald, PRO, writes to say that the ICA had their last meeting this week in Crokers. They have had a busy year since the Boot-Camp last April and funds given to the Tidy Towns effort have helped to put seating in the green beside the playground and a notice board is due to go up in Murroe shortly. In August, all members enjoyed a banquet in Bunratty. In October there was an open skills day in the Community Centre where various skills e.g. knitting, crochet, embroidery etc, were passed on to young and old. In November the ICA held a Craft Fair which included a fantastic range of Christmas gifts with Santa Claus appearing for the little ones with the vital role being carried out by Brother Ciarán of Glenstal Abbey and photography by Willie Carey. There are still a few photos that have not been collected that can be had by calling 061 386287. A beautiful patchwork quilt made by a member was raffled and the proceeds went to the Marian Club for the senior citizens. This year, all members have completed photography and flower arranging and Aqua Fit. The meetings will recommence at the start of September, 2013, and all are welcome.
