U11 St Patrick’s 4 Knockainey 2, For our final match of the season, we travelled to St Patrick’s for a Cup and League double game. Despite not having a full panel of players, we competed against a strong St Patricks team. We were quickly into our stride with good direct football, when we went a goal up courtesy of Eoin Cleary. Unfortunately this was short lived as we conceded a quick equaliser. Our back line of Ethan Dorney, Oisin Feely & Stephen O’Donnell were very solid in defence. Our new debutant goalie Liam Brosnan had a great game between the posts. Knockainey’s mid field consisted of David Cooke, Eoin Cleary and Patrick Reale, whose perseverance paid off with a low strike into the back of the net. We seemed to be on top but once again we conceded a second equaliser. After the interval, we found it difficult to play against the hill and it was not long when we found ourselves 3 - 2 down. Although our forward line of Thomas Ryan and David O’Donovan tried their utmost, we could not break down the St Patricks defence. With five minutes remaining we saw ourselves a further goal down. Final score 4-2 to St Patricks. On behalf of the Knockainey Managers, we would like to thank all the players and parents for their cooperation throughout the season. Panel: David Cooke, Ethan Dorney, Oisin Feely, Stephen O’Donnell, Eoin Cleary, Brian Blackwell, Patrick Reale, Aidan O’Riordan, Tomas Ryan, David O’Donovan, Liam Brosnan, Cathal O’Maoineagh
