DAWN MASS: The Annual Tarbert Dawn Mass will take place next Sunday morning at 6am. The bonfire will be set alight before the celebration of the Easter Mass commences.
We extend a heartfelt invitation to all our neighbouring parishioners to come and join us for this lovely celebration. Those in attendance will be treated to some light refreshments in the Community Centre after Mass.
SOUP KITCHEN: Soup Kitchen on Friday, March 29 in Tarbert Community Centre from 11am to 2pm. Proceeds this year go to the aid of Recovery Haven Tralee and Parents and Friends Association Listowel. Your continued support would be greatly appreciated.
TIDY TOWNS: Work in preparation for this year’s Tidy Towns adjudication is well under way. We know that we can depend on you, the residents of Tarbert, to present your homes and your area in the best possible light when the judging begins in early June. One category which we can, hopefully, make significant improvements in this year, is Sustainable Waste and Resource Management. Everyone can participate in waste prevention in areas such as food, water, energy and transport. Why not begin by supporting the ‘Stop Food Waste’ campaign and by shopping local this Easter week-end. TDA AGM: Tarbert Development Association will hold its AGM on Monday, April 15, 2013. This meeting will be held in Tarbert Bridewell commencing at 8pm
RAMBLING HOUSE: Listowel Rambling House will take place in the Seanchaí Literary and Cultural Centre, The Square, Listowel on Thursday March 28 from 9pm. GAA LOTTO: There was no winner of last week’s lotto draw. The numbers drawn were; 5, 11, 19 and 23. Bar Prize winner Noreen Boland. The Lucky Dip winners were; Pat Donavan, John Boland, Mary Langan, John and Anne Finucane, Bridget Shannahan. Next week’s draw will take place in the Swanky Bar with a jackpot of €1,600 next Saturday night. Thanks to all those who continue to support the Lotto. Yearly tickets are now available from all committee members.
MATCH RESULT: Played in windy Shannon Park, this vital Division 2 clash resulted in a win for St Pat’s Blennervile on a scoreline of Tarbert 1-7 St. Pat’s Blennerville 0-14. St. Pat’s were first on the scoreboard with a free followed by an excellent long range free against the wind by Ger O’Sullivan to level matters. Two further free by St. Pat’s were followed by an excellent executed goal by Tarbert’s John O’Connell to put Tarbert in front. St. Pat’s then took control of the game and led by on a scoreline of 1-2 to 0-10 at half time. Tarbert began the second half a new team and scored three unanswered points to put only one point between the teams. Tarbert then missed some scoreable chances with the Blennerville constantly counter attacking and extended their lead again to four points. A good score by Kieran Deenihan with ten minutes left reduced the margin again to three points and following a counter attach this time from Tarbert Ger O’Sullivan had a goal opportunity blocked on the line. St. Pat’s maintained their four point advantage and were worth winners despite Tarbert’s gallant effort. U-16 Moyvane/Tarbert U-16 team play St Senans in Mountcoal next Monday evening.
