MILFORD HOSPICE CAKE STALL: The Milford Hospice Annual Fair will be held in the Sports Arena, UL on Sunday September 1 and will be on from 11am to 4pm. Once again the organisers of the Cake stall are appealing to all parishioners to support this major fundraising event by making a donation of cakes, buns, bread etc.  You can bring your cakes, etc to The New Resource Centre in Ballybrown, Clarina (Next to Ballybrown School and Church) on Saturday between 1 and  5pm or you can contact Bernadette Behan, 087 8162774 to arrange collection.  Cakes can be brought directly to the Fair before 12 on the day.

NIALL MELLON DRAMA FUNDRAISER: Rated as “Must See” by The New York Times, supporters of high quality drama will have an opportunity to see this unique  show when Pat Kinevane brings his one man play “SILENT” to The Woodlands Hotel on Thursday, September 4. Pat is kindly giving his performance free gratis to support The Niall Mellon Project, which this year will see a school and health centre being built in one of the most deprived parts of Kenya. Including a cheese and wine reception, tickets cost €20 with all proceeds raised going to this worthy cause. A show not to be missed. Tickets can now be purchased through or on 061-605100.

ADARE PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP: The Adare Parent and Toddler group will start back on Friday September 13, upstairs in the Heritage Centre at 10.15am. They meet at 10.15 until 12.15 to facilitate those who have to collect children from playschool. They would like to issue a special invitation to all parents of children from 0-5 to come and join us on Friday mornings especially Dads, childminders and grandparents minding children in this age group. If you are expecting your first baby and would like some advice and a chat please do come along. The cost is €3 per family and includes tea, coffee, biscuits and treats for the toddlers! FR. MICHAEL MURPHY APPEAL FOR UNUSED SECOND HAND LAPTOPS: Fr. Michael Murphy (Kilcornan and Nigeria) would like to express his thanks to all those who donated their unused laptops for his school in Nigeria in 2012.He has an on-going requirement for a quantity of unused second hand laptops which can be used for training purposes in his school in Nigeria. He would gratefully appreciate it, if any such laptops could be donated so that he can take them to Nigeria on his return at the end of August. ORAL HISTORY INITIATIVE: West Limerick Resources will be running an Oral History Training Initiative this autumn.  Training will consist of two elements.  Participants will develop Oral History Interviewing techniques as well as examine the legal and ethical issues relevant to gathering Oral History.  The second element of the training will focus on digital voice recording and editing techniques.  Training will also explore how oral history can contribute to the local heritage of communities and identify suitable ways of showcasing their research.  Training is expected to begin in October and to run one evening per week for 10 weeks.  The course is free of charge and open to people living in the West Limerick area.  To register for the programme contact Suzanne on 069 79114 or email

CLIONA’S FOUNDATION CYCLE: Cliona’s Foundation Cycle, now in its 6th year will take place on Saturday August 31 leaving from the Honeyfitz Theatre, Lough Gur. With three routes this year including an 8km for family and funsters (fee €25.00), the organisers have appealed to experienced cyclists with a challenging 90km route (fee €30.00)  and a less arduous 40km route (€30.00) for leisure cyclists.
