BEREAVEMENT: The death has taken place of Margaret (Peggy) Mc Donnell nee Barry Dunmoylan, Shanagolden, on Sunday August 18.

She was a home maker, in her early seventies. and a member of the farming community. She came from Belville, in the Feohanagh/Castlemahon Parish 47 years ago to Dunmoylan to set up home with Michael.

She was a very kind and popular lady who was dedicated to her family and farm life, and she will be sadly missed by all. Peggy had a positive outlook on life and saw the good side in things that happened and in people.

Her cooking recipes and country lore and knowledge of the outdoors will be missed. She lay in repose at Madigan’s Funeral Home, Shanagolden on Monday 19th August from 6pm followed by removal to Saint Colman’s Church Kilcolman.

Fr Tony Mullins concelebrated her Requiem Mass on Tuesday morning at 11am. He was assisted by Canon James Ambrose, Canon Tony O’Keeffe, Fr Denis Mullane, Fr John Duggan, Fr Paul Finnerty and two Seminarian students.

Symbols associated with Peggy’s life were taken to the altar by family members, and friends before the Ceremony commenced. The included her prayer book and rosary as her faith meant a lot to her. A toy racing car as she loved Formula 1 Racing hurling and sport. A single rose as she liked gardening and flowers. A small branch and leaf from the Copper Beach tree in their yard as she liked nature the outdoors and farming. A jug to signify her hospitality and welcome for all who called to the house. A CD of accordion music as she loved traditional music and the Wrenboys. The bread and wine to be used in the Eucharist.

Family members assisted in the readings, and prayers of the faithful. Fr Tony’s homily touched on Peggy’s great faith and her yearly trips to Lourdes and her acceptance of her illness. David Mc Donnell on behalf of the family thanked everyone who cared for Peggy and the people for their attendance, visits and messages of support in recent weeks.

Her burial took place in nearby Kilbradern Cemetery on Tuesday August 20. Her popularity was evident by the large crowds that attended to pay their respects to the family on both days. We will remember Peggy for the great welcome she had for the Glensharrold Wrenboy group each Saint Stephen’s Day. We extend our sympathy to her husband Michael, sons David and Richard, brother Paddy, daughters-in-law, sisters-in-law, and brother- in –law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. May she rest in Peace.
