EARLY START OUR LADY OF LOURDES SCHOOL: Applications are now being accepted for places in the early Start class for September 2013. The early Start is a Department of Education preschool that is staffed by a fully qualified primary school teachers and a fully qualified childcare worker. The aim of the preschool is to give your child the best possible start to their school life, developing the skills that will lead to high achievement and success in school. Children need to be older than 3 years and 2 months on the 1st of September to avail of this free preschool. LIMERICK’S GOT TALENT 2013: Calling all singer,dancers, bands, choirs, variety acts & songwriters the search is now on for the new stars of Limerick in our 5th annual competition which takes place at Limetree Threatre, Mary Immaculate College from 20th - 23rd August.

This years competition promises to be the biggest and best ever hence why we have moved venues to give our supporters better facilities and more comfort.

Applications are now available from two outlets this year our main one at Local Heroes Office in Arthur’s Quay Shopping Centre and also from Future Sound & Vision in Upper William St during shopping hours. All applications must be returned to Arthur’s Quay before closing date of 1st August 2013 with a €10.00 entry fee.

Massive prize packs are available for our winners which, as well as overall winner, five category winners will be chosen including Best Singer, Best Dance Act, Best Band, Best Variety Act & Best Original Song.

All prospective applicants are invited to attend our first workshop which will take place at South Court Hotel Conference Centre on Tuesday 2nd April from 11.00am -4.00pm which will be very beneficial to their progress.

Once again all proceeds for show will go to the MS Society Limerick.

LIMERICK WOMEN’S NETWORK: Limerick Women’s Network is inviting women to take part in a seven week course entitled ‘Women making choices, making changes’. The course will start on April 30th and will continue weekly for the seven weeks. Its taking place in Limerick Women’s Network, 2 Sarsfield Gardens, Moyross, from 10am – 1pm. COMMUNITY YOUTH AND LEADERSHIP COURSE: Do you volunteer in your local community? Are you new to a group or committee? Would you like to learn more about how committees work? This course will help you to learn effective planning and decision making as well as strengthen group and team work skills! Starts Wednesday April 10th from 6pm - 8:30 pm. The course runs for 6 weeks and takes place in Limerick City Adult Education Service, O Connell Ave., Limerick. OPERATION SOUTHILL: If you are aged between 14 and 25 and are interested in making your community a better place Southill Operation is offering grants for you to run and event in your own community. WEST END NEWS: All clubs and groups are back to normal this week after a busy week of Easter camps. There were a number of different activities run for the young people in the area which included a pool competition, a rapping workshop and a sports camp.

The community soccer is also back in full swing and will take place every Monday at 5pm on the Astroturf pitch at the back of the Community Centre.
