MASS FOR THE LATE FR JAMES HOLLOWAY: The Months Mind Mass for the late Rev. Fr. James Holloway R.I.P. (former Parish Priest of Pallasgreen and Templebraden) will be celebrated on this Sunday 3rd of February in Kilteely Parish Church at 11 O’Clock.

PUBLIC MEETING FOR MOTOR NEURONE DISEASE: All are invited to come along to the Community Centre this Friday Night February 1st to discuss and plan for a 5k walk in aid of the Irish Motor Neurone Disease. As you may be aware a local community member has been struck with this terrible burden and this walk is hoping to make people aware and an understanding about this disease. The motor neurone diseases (MND) are a group of neurological disorders that selectively affect motor neurons, the cells that control voluntary muscle activity including speaking, walking, swallowing, and general movement of the body.

The Pallasgreen –Templebraden Dev Assoc are in the process of organising the walk/fundraiser which will take place on Saturday February 23rd from the Community Centre. On the day the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association will have an information stand and will talk to anyone who wish learn more about the disease. We would like to invite everyone from all sectors of the community to come to the meeting this Friday night at 8.30pm

NICKER N.S. APPROVED FUNDING: Nicker National School received good news recently about their application for extra funding to complete works to the school, the following is a brief statement released to the media.

The Department of Education has approved additional funding for Nicker National School to provide new classrooms and associated ground works. Local Fine Gael TD Patrick O’Donovan said that a lot of hard work had gone into the project by the Board of Management, Parents Association and teachers in Nicker National School in securing this funding. It was also due in no small way to the role played by local Councillor and teacher at the school Mary Harty who played a key part in advancing the project

ST AILBES CREDIT UNION TABLE Quiz: St Ailbes Credit Union Limited will hold their annual Primary School Quiz in the Millennium Centre on Monday 4th February 2013 at 7.30 pm sharp.The winning schools will be representing St Ailbes Credit Union at Chapter level with the opportunity to go to National Finals in Dublin.

CHURCH NEWS: First Friday February 1st-Feast of St Bridgid; Mass in Nicker at 9am. Mass in Templebraden 7.30pm. Adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrement in Nicker Church at 7-8pm. All are welcome.

St Brigid-Patron Saint of Templebraden Church; As we celebrate the Feast of St Brigid on this Friday February 1st we invite you to attend evening Mass in Templebraden Church at 7.30pm. A limited number odf St Brigid’s Crosses will be available on the night

Feast of the Presentation of the Lord; There will be Mass in Nicker Church at 10am this Saturday 2nd February, to celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple. Traditionally candles are blessed at this Mass. Donations of candles would be very welcome.

St Blaise-Blessing of Throats; Altough we will not be celebrating the Feast of St Blaise this year as it falls on this Sunday throats will be blessed after the Saturday night Vigil Mass and after all the Masses on Sunday.

If there are any older people who are no longer able to attend weekend Mass and would like Holy Communion on the First Friday of each month please contact Fr Burns at 384114 or 087-2036763.

TEACH CLOVERFIELD: Enjoy a night out with a difference at... The Teach Cloverfield... on Friday February 8th commencing at 8.45p.m. The entertainment will consist mainly of singing and maybe a story or two. We are inviting singers, people interested in singing and storytellers to come along. This should be an interesting experience and if you know someone willing to participate, please invite them. This is a new experience for us and we are hoping to get good support for the occasion. Admission is free and tea and home made bread will be served. Bain taitneamh Beidh fáilte roimh cách, idir óg agus aosta. This night replaces our Rambling House for February.

O’DWYERS BAR GOLF SOCIETY AGM: The AGM of the Society took place last Friday night in the Bar. A good attendance heard the years activities by outgoing Captain Mossy Kirby recalled, which proved a successful year for the Society. He thanked all involved in the society and reserved special praise for treasurer Tom O’Dea whose trojan work down through the years has kept the society in splendid shape and his organisation of the outings are greatly appreciated. The main winners of the year were Trevor Cosgrave Captains Prize, Mike Barry Vice Captains Prize, Ned Gammell Presidents Prize and the Golfer of the year went to President Dermot O’Dwyer. His last duty as Captain was to wish incoming captain Joe Heelan every success and enjoyment for the coming year. Joe during his address introduced John Linnane as his Vice Captain. Handicap committee elected were; Eamon Ryan, Joe Ryan and Philip Cosgrave. Membership for the coming year will stand at €30. Outings for the year 2013 are as follows; Nenagh Sat March 9th, Castletroy Sat April 14th, Thurles Sat 18th May, Tipperary (Capts Prize) Sun 9th June, Ballykisteen (Vice Capt Prize) 7th July, Dundrum Sat 18th Aug, Portumna Sat 14th Sept and Adare (Presidents Prize) Sun 6th October

MATT TALBOT REGION PTAA DINNER DANCE: This will be held on Friday 15th February. Mass will be celebrated in Caherconlish Church at 8pm. Followed by a function at the Millennium Centre. Tickets are available from members of the Pioneer Association. Gold and Silver Pioneer pins will be presented to jubilarians at the Mass. If anyone would like to receive a pin, please contact 087 2852155 before Monday 4th February.

WORK ACCESS: Anyone with a disability, mental health issue or learning difficulty can avail of our service.·People wishing to use the service do not need to be on a disability payment.·We can offer support also to those already in employment. We can meet anyone for an informal meeting to discuss his/her needs and to clarify any questions about the service we provide.· We are currently based on Little Ellen Street, Limerick but we also have outreach offices in Newcastlewest and Kilmallock.

PALLASGREEN JUVENILE GAA BINGO: Bingo continues every Wednesday night at 11.30pm in the Community Centre. Some great prizes on the night and your support would be greatly appreciated.

GAA NEWS: Pallasgreen GAA Club will hold a Victory Dinner Dance and 125 Celebrations Dinner Dance on Friday Night March 8th in the Woodlands House Hotel Adare. Tickets will cost €30 and more details contact Club Secretary David McGuinness 087-2677674.

Club Membership: Club Membership is now due, €20 for Adults €10 for Minors (age 17/18).
