MUSIC CLASSES: Glin Ceohaltas music classes under the direction of Willie Larkin begin on Friday 27 September from 5.30pm to 7.30pm in Ceol Corbrai Community Hall, Glin.
GLIN LIBRARY: Peg in Glin library is recovering from her recent appendectomy and regrets any inconvenience caused to her readers. The Library is now open again with the usual opening hours of : Tues & Thurs 11 to 2 and 6 to 8. Wed & Fri 11 to 2 and 3 to 5. Glin Library will be 8 years old this month and has issued over 40,000 books since its opening. If anybody wishes to display arts or crafts please phone Peg in the library at 068 26910. Peg looks forward to seeing the school classes regularly again now that the summer is over.

GLIN FESTIVAL COMMITTEE: would like to express their gratitude to all those who donated their time, effort and funds to the festivities over the festival weekend in August. Once again, this year proved to be a huge success and this would not have been possible without the continued support of the people in Glin and surrounding areas.
We are delighted to make a donation to Pieta House. We raised €800 at the 6K Fun Run on Saturday 10 August 2013 and we would like to thank everyone most sincerely for their participation and donations, it’s all for a great cause.
MULVIHILL SCHOOL OF MUSIC: Sean Mulvihill is starting a Music School for traditional Irish Music. He is an All-Ireland Champion at both Junior and Senior Level. He is covering a wide range of instruments, including Tin Whistle, Button Accordion, Piano Accordion, Melodeon, Banjo and Concertina. Prices starting from €4 per class for a group of 8 or more. ST FERGUS NATIONAL SCHOOL PARENTS COUNCIL: AGM is being held in the school hall this Thursday 26 September at 8.30pm. We would like to invite all parents, especially our new parents, to get involved as new ideas, as well as new members are always welcome. We realise that all parents are busy but as they say ‘many hands make light work’ and we manage to socialise every now and again too. If you can’t help out during the year then we would appreciate your support with our activities and event as they happen.
CAR BOOT SALE AND INDOOR MARKET: The monthly car boot sale in aid of WL102fm will take place on Sunday next, September 29 at the Community Centre, NCW next to the GAA pitch. Gates open 7.30am and the sale runs until 2pm. Further information 069 66200.
Glin Red Cross: There will be a CFR training course in Conway’s this Monday and Wednesday 23rd and 25th September from 7 o clock to 10 o clock. This course is fully booked but another course is scheduled for sometime in October/November 2013. Date yet to be confirmed. Anyone interested in training for Cardiac First Responder should contact Marie Fitzgerald at 086 8691821. The following is course outline for the Cardiac First Responder, Scene safety, Checking for response/airways, Compressions (CPR), Breathing, Infant CPR, Infant compressions, Use of the AED (defibrillator), Recovery position, Adult and child choking and Handover to ambulance/post event.
There are presently 9 defibrillators in Glin Parish, placed to allow quick access in all areas. We have 24 people trained as Cardiac First Responders and we are actively seeking new members. The Emergency Number is 087 6230032.
