SMARTER TRAVEL: Limerick has been designated Ireland’s Smarter Travel Demonstration City. We are a collaborative group from the Limericks Local Authorities and the University of Limerick with a budget of €9million and over the next five years we will be putting in place the necessary infrastructure to make cycling, walking, travelling by bus and car sharing a much easier option for people in their daily routine. This is a huge deal for Limerick and it is so important that people know what an amazing opportunity this is for the City. While the project may be seen mostly through infrastructure, we are primarily focusing on the behaviour change side of Smarter Travel. We have recently teamed up with the Graduate Entry Medical School, and the Physical Education and Sports Sciences in UL as well as An Taisce Green Schools, and Smarter Travel Workplaces to help us with our project.
