TWO WINS FOR BALLYGIBLIN HURLERS: Ballygiblin hurlers had two wins over the week end in the Div 1 and Div 3 leagues. On Sunday the Div 1 side travelled to Midleton where they faced the home side. This was a high scoring game Ballygiblin led 3-6 to 1-5 at half time.
Exchanges were close throughout the second half with both sides exchanging scores. In the end Ballygiblin emerged winners by 4-13 to 3-11. This win will now ease regulation worries but the result of the game v Churchtown will have a major bearing on who stays in Div 1 HL for 2014. RAS: Stage 5 of An Post National Ras will stop in Mitchelstown on Thursday May 23 between 2pm and 3pm. It is 37 years since the last Ras had a stage stop in Mitchelstown. It was in 1976. Many changes have taken place in this long period. Being on a Thursday it will add greatly to the excitement with the usual Thursday Market in New Square, Traffic diversions will be in place. Local people as well as family supporters and cyclists in general are likely to be out in force that day. Lets hope for fine weather.

THE LATE DONAL KEANE: The death occurred at Fermoy Community Hospital on Saturday May 4 of Donie Keane, Loughanna, Kilbehenny Mitchelstown. The late Donie was in his late 60s and was very well known in the Kilbehenny and Mitchelstown areas He had a keen interest in hurling and attended a lot of games locally over the years, Donie had been in ill health for the past three years. His popularity was borne out in the large attendance at the removal on Monday evening from O’Sullivan’s Funeral to the local Church and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Tuesday. Interment took place to the Church Grounds. To his sister Margaret (Boland) brother Pat, brother in law Michael,k niece Elaine, nephew Michael, relatives neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
HEALTHY WALKS: Mitchelstown Healthy Town conducts Group Walks every Tuesday from New Square at 7pm. Leaders conduct walks from 3 kilometres, upwards for all ages.
