GAA: In round 1 of the intermediate football championship the club made a great start with a 1 – 12 to 1 – 10 victory over a spirited Gerald Griffins side in Ballingarry. Played in greasy underfoot conditions, it was a very entertaining hour with some fine point taking from both sides. Captain, Keith O’Connor led from the front with 6 points, Sean Deegan and Mike Fitzgerald also added minors while goalie Mickey Bob Ryan ventured up the field to kick a massive point from 45 metres. With never more than a kick of the ball between the teams, a well taken penalty from John Fitzgerald opened up some daylight after Brendan O’Sullivan was fouled. It proved to be a hectic finish however as Griffins hit back with a goal and a point but the team responded with some last gasp defending from Joe Fogarty and Darragh O’Sullivan in particular and added on another point to clinch victory. Team: Mickey Bob Ryan, Mike Fitzgerald, Darragh O’Sullivan, Michael Larkin, Joe Fogarty, Damian Reale, Kevin O’Donaghue, Brendan O’Donaghue, Mark Deegan, Sean Deegan, Liam Reale, John Fitzgerald, Keith O’Connor, Ross O’Donovan, subs used: Eddie Dooley, and Aaron Murphy, subs: Manus Breathnach, Michael O’Neill, James Daly, Johnny McAuliffe, Richie Caulfield.

In U12 football the campaign started with an away match in Ballylanders. With the advantage of a strong breeze the home team took the lead. In the second half the team made a great comeback but with time running out they had to concede to a strong Ballylanders side. This game was followed up with a home game to Cois Laoi Gaels. This game started off very competitive with both sides going full belt. With a lead at half time Cois Laoi Gaels came at them again in the second half with all the players playing their hearts out. They eventually saw off a strong comeback by the visitors.
In U12 hurling the first game was away to Ahane. This game was very close throughout.
