CELEBRATION FOR FR. JOHN: This past week has been quite different in our parish. Fr. John Daly, our P.P. for the past fifteen years has been transferred to Bruff, following a few months sabbatical. In appreciation of his time with us we had a thanksgiving Mass on Saturday evening last, at which there was a packed church. A well prepared liturgy lots of singing in which everyone participated, great spirit of prayer and celebration, symbolic gifts, speeches, tributes and words of appreciation, followed by refreshments all helped to make this occasion a wonderful celebration of faith and was a real tribute to the person Fr. John is. We wish him peace, good health, and fulfilment in the weeks and years ahead. We thank everyone who participated in so many different ways.

WELCOME FR. DEREK: We extend a warm welcome to Fr. Derek Leonard to our parish this weekend. We hope he will have many happy years here in St/. Nicholas’ parish.

THANKS PAT: We thank Pat Gleeson for his commitment to the work of Sacristan over the past number of years. Pat has now retired from this role. He is a true gentleman, always very respectful, approachable and available . He not only served as sacristan but also did lots of other jobs – electrical, plumbing, carpentry. The church was his second home! Thank you Pat and we wish you many years of good health in your retirement.

SYMPATHY: Sympathy is offered to Tony di Vito and family, Corbally on the recent death of his sister Rosina Rabson, Dooradoyle. May she rest in peace.
