COMMUNITY HEALTH MATTERS: The West Limerick Primary Health Care Project for Travellers will begin broadcasting their new programme entitled ‘Community Health Matters’ on West Limerick 102fm this February. The programme will be broadcast on the first Wednesday of each month from 11am to 11.30am – straight after the news and will examine a range of topics including children’s health and safety, men’s health, tanning, diabetes, addiction and mental health. MUSICAL “THE WITNESS”: Limerick Diocese is presenting ‘The Witness’- a musical about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, as told through the eyes of Peter, on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 in the Lime Tree Theatre, Mary Immaculate College. PROPOSED CHANGES TO WEST LIMERICK RESOURCES: West Limerick Resources will hold a series of public meetings to highlight the potential impact of recent proposed changes, by the government, which could put the future existence of the local and community development company into question. The independent not-for-profit company is asking all members of the local community to attend one of its upcoming meetings to find out more and support its efforts to have the community’s voice heard in discussions on how these proposals are to be implemented. A meeting is scheduled to take place in the Desmond Complex Newcastle West at 8pm on Wednesday, February 13 and all are welcome.

A GATHERING YOUTH SERVICE BIRTHDAY: This year Limerick Youth Service celebrates its 40th birthday. In the four decades since Sr. Joan Bowles opened the doors, 1.2milllion young people have passed through them. That’s 1.2million young people! In recognition of this milestone, LYS will host a number of events throughout 2013 to will raise awareness of the role that LYS has and continues to play in supporting and encourages our young people. Looking forward to the 40th celebrations, LYS Director, Catherine Kelly, thanked the many volunteers, staff and young people who have contributed to LYS since 1973. ‘We are looking forward to what promises to be a busy year and meeting some old faces,’ said Ms. Kelly, who has been with LYS since the 1980s. ‘Although LYS has changed a lot since those early days, we still remain true to Sr. Joan’s belief that only the best is good enough for our young people,’ continued Ms. Kelly. infolink will keep you up to date on all the events planned for our 40th. TAIZÉ: Limerick Diocese is organising a pilgrimage for young adults (over 18’s) to Taizé from July 4 to 9. Taizé is a great place to meet young people of different religions – to reflect on your faith and pray and sing together. The pilgrimage also includes a trip to Paris and Disneyland Paris.
