South Junior ‘A’ Hurling Final: Congratulations to our Junior ‘A’ Management team and all hurlers on this panel who beat Staker Wallace last weekend in Bruff to lift the South cup, with final score ~ CTB 2:14 to Staker Wallace 1:08. A fine crowd attended to watch a good game and no doubt finer details are recorded elsewhere within this Vale Star. I will say though in general the team played well but always room for improvement. I also thought Harry Dore made an excellent and impassioned speech afterward, thanking Bruff for their excellent facilities, good game by the referee, also saying well done to a sporting, spirited and honest Staker Wallace side. But for me most important of all is how Harry praised everyone in our panel and not just the first 15 players who started on Sunday, but that more and more it is a full panel game and fact that good players are on the line and in training, all doing their best, willing able and hungry to play their part, can only be good for this team and the club overall going forward as we need to up the work rate and intensity going forward, so well done Harry, and all involved and keep it up. The cup was duly filled numerous times in multiple establishments later that evening and rumour has it, the cup is still in one piece unlike some people on Monday Morning! So well done all involved including everyone who came to support, also thanks as always Gerry Dolan for his superb media and social networking, and we now go back to business and prepare for quarter final, which is scheduled some time before week ending Sunday 13th Oct. ’13. We’re now in the business end of the season for sure so all to play for.
