THE GATHERING: The first of Tarbert’s gathering Festivals (The Cuckoo Walking Festival) was a great success having had over 300 walkers participate over the three days. The festive atmosphere which has become part of this event did not disappoint this year with music and sing songs that extended well into the evenings. We now look forward to our next Gathering Festival in August. Planning for this event, which will run from August 9, to the August 18, is well under way. A draft programme can be seen by checking our website www.tarbert.ie. If you are planning to visit us during these dates you are sure to experience a great Tarbert “cead mile failte”.
TIDY TOWNS: Adjudication for this year’s Tidy Towns competition will commence in a few weeks time. After a very successful parish wide litter blitz on April 20 we will now confine our activities to within the speed limits of Tarbert. It is vital to us that everyone lends a hand. You can help by sweeping the kerbside in front of your house, shop, school, removing the kerbside weeds outside your premises, painting your house and/or the boundary wall outside your house (if needed), cleaning house chutes, cutting back overhanging bushes / shrubs especially over footpaths, planting up window boxes or flower tubs. If you can support our community effort in any way this would be very much appreciated.
PRIDE OF PLACE: Tarbert has been nominated by Kerry County Council to compete in the IPB Pride of Place 2013 All Ireland Competition. Watch this space for further updates.
