The death took place last week of Joan Scanlon at St. Ita’s Hospital Newcastle West and formerly of Tenekilla Ballyhahill and Corby Estate Glin. Sincere sympathy to her sister Mary and relations. May her soul rest in peace.

Adult Set Dancing Classes: Set dancing classes continue in the parish hall in Ballyhahill every Monday night at 8.30 p.m. Everybody welcome.

Exercise Classes: Exercise Classes continue in Loughill Resource Centre every Wednesday evening from 7.00 to 8.00 p.m.

A Series of Talks: A series of talks celebrating the Year of Faith based on the Beatitudes will take place in the Parish over the next few months. The next talk will take place in the Parish Hall in Ballyhahill Thursday night the 14th March at 8.00p.m. This talk entitled “Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness and the Struggle for it” will be given by Dr. Patricia Kiernan of Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. Refreshments will be served afterwards. All welcome. We would like to thank all those who attended the talk by Sr. Helen Culhane on Bereavement in the Resource Centre last week.

Rathkeale Historical Society: A meeting of Rathkeale Historical Society will take place in the Community Arts Centre in Rathkeale this Friday night 8th March at 8.30 p.m. The talk will be given by Gerard Curtin on “Localised Place Names (English and Irish) in West Limerick.

Fashion Show: Tarbert Comprehensive School parents association will present a fashion show in Ceol Corbrai Glin this Friday night 8th. March at 8.00 p.m. There will be a cheese and wine reception, raffle, door prize and spot prizes. Tickets €10 each.

Seachtain na Gaeilge: Seachtain na Gaeilge runs until the 17th. March. It is a non-profit organization which promotes Irish language and culture both at home and abroad during a two-week festival held in March every year. With events ranging from simple conversational evenings to street céilís, it gives everyone a chance to use the Irish language. It doesn’t matter if you are a native Irish speaker or a new learner. So even if you haven’t used the language for a while, try speaking it during Seachtain na Gaeilge.

This year Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin and Danny O’Reilly have come on board as the ambassadors of Seachtain na Gaeilge. Aoibhinn was raised in a bilingual household in Co. Mayo. She is a teacher, broadcaster, and a former winner of the Rose of Tralee. She said she was thrilled to be involved with Seachtain na Gaeilge and felt very privileged to be an ambassador for the Irish language during the festival. She feels it is a great opportunity for everyone to use the cúpla focal. They could start with “Go raibh maith agat”. TG4have excellent teaching programmes during the day and many of their programmes are subtitled.

Bally Rovers Soccer Club: Bally Rovers have installed a Clothes Bank at the club grounds for charity. The charity is Dochas Nasamu, which is a children’s home in Kenya. Items accepted are Clothes, Sheets, Towels, Blankets, Shoes and Curtains. No soiled items please. Items can be dropped at the field during training or during a match because outside of these times the gate will be locked. Items can also be dropped into the two nearest club member’s houses Oliver Curtin or Declan Looney if the gate is locked. You can also contact any club member who will arrange to have the gate opened at a time to suit you. Please support this worthwhile charity.

Limerick GAA Club Draw for 2013: There are 10 monthly draws with a top prize of €15,000 each month in the Limerick GAA club draw. Anyone wishing to join the Draw can contact Dan Cannon or Pakie Hayes or any member of the club.

By supporting this draw you are helping with fundraising for our own club and the County. Half of the sales of the tickets will be given back to the Club and the other half goes to the County board who use the money primarily for the coaching of the underage teams in the County. The first of these 10 draws takes place this Friday night 8th of March.
