DEVOTIONS: On each Friday evening during Lent, there will be Stations of the Cross in the Parish Church at 7pm.

DRAMA: Transition year students from Scoil Pol, Kilfinane, will perform in the Community Centre, Ardpatrick on March 7, 8 and 9. The choice of play this year is The Big Form by Michael Dennehy, a comedy in two acts. Curtain 7.30pm each night.

WALKS: Ballyhoura Bears have a night walk from Moore Abbey near Galbally on this Thursday at 7.30pm. Contact 087-2833451.

The C walk on Saturday, March 9 starts from the Community Centre, Ardpatrick at 11am. Contact 087-4166769.

On Sunday the A walk is from Ballyorgan at 10am. Contact 087-2873937. This walk is the first half of the festival marathon.

The B walk on Sunday is from Kilfinane at 11am. Contact 085-7605268.

FEBRUARY WEATHER: The past month was unsettled up to February 16, then remained generally dry but cold up to the end of the month. Total rainfall 54.8mm (2.15 ins). Rain was recorded on 16 of the 28 days; wettest day was February 10 when 11.4mm (0.44 ins) was recorded.

Highest maximum air temperature plus 12.5 deg C recorded on February 13, lowest minimum air temperature minus 2.8 deg C, recorded on February 26, lowest grass minimum temperature minus 8.9 deg C recorded on February 25. All recorded at the Mount Russell Weather Station.

COMMUNITY GAMES: Last weekend’s church gate collection in aid of the games amounted to €227.33. Thanks to all for support and generosity.

Congratulations to Ardpatrick and Kilfinane National Schools who represented the area so well in the finals in Mungret last Sunday evening. Ardpatrick School finished just six points behind the winners. Team members were Ciaran Considine, Marguerite Frewen, Enda O’Neill, all Bawnmore, George Hosford, Ballyorgan.

SCHOOL WIN: Ardpatrick National School girls’ football team won the school final against Glenbrohane in Martinstown on Friday last. Final score 5-1 to 2-5.
