Once again the Pallasgreen Variety Group take to the stage on the 15th, 16, & 17th of March at 8pm each evening in the Community Centre. A production by the renowned and exquisite Maureen Fitzgerald promises to entertain from beginning to end with performances by our young people and our young at heart. It’s a show not to be missed so keep your diary free to celebrate with us over St Patrick’s Weekend.

PALLASGREEN/TEMPLEBRADEN DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION: We would like to thank everybody who helped, sponsored or donated in any way to the Motor Neurone Walk last recently. It was a wonderful day and your generosity was magnificent and for that we thank you most sincerely. Please hand in any unreturned sponsorship cards and money to Joanne Beary or Fr Pat Burns by this Thursday March 7th as it is hoped to make the presentation to the Motor Neurone Association this weekend.

HONOURED: Tom Ryan (W) and Tony Greene (Snr) will be honoured by Cumann Sean Ghaeil this Saturday night for their services to the Gaelic Athletic Association. Tom will receive the Tom O’Brien Personality Award for his contribution spanning well over forty years and is still at the helm of the local Club. Tony has served the club with great distinction and has been involved on many of the clubs key roles from chairman, treasurer and finance committees, first aid and selector. The night which should be a great occasion of nostalgia and chat with refreshments served will get underway at 8.30pm in the Millennium Centre Caherconlish. All are welcome. Also on the night Gerry Quirke from Knockane will honoured for his services to the GAA.

NATIONAL SUCCESS: Congratulations to Saoirse Corbett of Garranemore who captured a bronze medal in the national gymnastics finals in Wicklow last weekend. Saoirse competed in the over 13’s individual apparatus competition.

GARRYDOOLIS NATIONAL SCHOOL: Application forms for new entrants to Garrydoolis N.S. for the school year 2013/2014 are available in the school or may be downloaded from the school’s website.

NICKER N.S. NEW ENTRANTS: Registration forms for pupils starting school in September are now available in the school. Contact 061-384761.

PALLASGREEN/TEMPLEBRADEN CHURCH RENOVATION DRAW: This begins the First Friday in May and will run for 5 months. Once the draw cards are printed we will call a meeting for all who help distribute them. We again ask each household , through family working away, friends or colleagues at work to fill at least one card. Tickets are €10 each per month, €50 for the 5 months and prize money again is €21,000. We ask other organisations to give us a free run until the draw is up and running in May as this will be the only fundraiser for the year. Some of the profit from the draw will be used to carry out a full investigation of the work to be done in Templebraden Church

ST PATRICKS’S PLAYERS CLOVERFIELD: Due to Drama Rehearsals there will be no Rambling House on March 8th.

St. Patrick’s Players Cloverfield will perform ‘’MOLL’’ a two act comedy by J.B. Keane in the Teach on Sunday March 17th and on Friday March 22nd at 8.30p.m.The Play will also be performed in Pallasgreen C.C. on Sunday March 24th at 8.30p.m. and in Friarsgate Theatre kilmallock on Friday April 5th and Saturday 6th at 8p.m.

EMLY VARIETY PLAYERS: Emly Variety Players present John Murphy’s Three Act Play “The Country Boy” on Sat 2nd & Sun 3rd March and Sat 9th & Sunday 10th March in Halla Naoimh Ailbhe, Emly, at 8.15 nightly.

GOLF SOCIETY: The first outing of O’Dwyer’s Bar Golf Society will take place on Saturday March 9th at Nenagh Golf Club, Tee time is reserved from 10am and timesheet is now in Bar or contact Tom O’Dea at 087-9220906. GAA NEWS: Pallasgreen GAA club extend their congratulations to Robert O’Donnell and the rest of the team from Mary Immaculate College, Limerick on reaching the final of the Fitzgibbon Cup.

Club Membership is now due, €20 for Adults €10 for Minors (age 17/18).

Limerick Club Draw 2013 will commence in March. Tickets cost €100. Club receives 50% commission on every ticket sold. Tickets can be paid on a monthly basis - €10 per monthContact David McGuinness 087 2677674 if interested in joining the draw.

On Friday 8th March, Pallasgreen GAA club will be hosting a dinner dance in the Woodlands Hotel in Adare. After dinner music and entertainment will be provided by Froggie and Michelle. Tickets for the event will cost €30 and are available from David McGuinness on 087 2677674.

Pallasgreen GAA are seeking members (17 years +) to compete in Senior Scór 2013. Scór is a GAA competition that combines all the colour and rivalry of Gaelic Games with the social/fun element of Ireland’s traditional past-times This competition is open to novelty acts, singers, ballad groups, recitation, musicians and dancers. All players are reminded that it is mandatory for all players to wear gumshields for football matches and practise for all grades up to Minor from this year, and that from 1st January 2014 the practise will be mandatory at U-21 and Adult grades also.

Training w for all grades from U-6 to U-14 in both football and hurling will take place on Sunday at 11:00a.m. in the field. The U-14 team are involved in the football Féile Peil na nÓg on March 16th at 11a.m. away to Ballybrown. Please come along to show your support.

In their first competitive outing of the year the Pallasgreen intermediate hurling team lost to Caherline by a score of 1-13 to 1-9. A slow start saw Pallasgreen trailing Caherline by 1-8 to 0-6 at the break. Early in the second half a goal from David McMahon and points from Pa Roche and Colin Ryan saw the men in blue and gold pull back on level terms. However the extra match experience of Caherline told in the end, and three unanswered points in the last ten minutes saw them over the finish line.
