CARDS: The results of last week’s card game at Monagea Parish Hall were as follows: 1st and 2nd divided, with eight games each, Tom Purcell and Noel McCarthy, Nell Culhane and Kathleen O’Gorman. Table prizes Annie Leahy and Kathleen Nash, May O’Brien and Joan Nash, Mary Roche and Rita Corkery. Raffle Annie Leahy, Connie O’Sullivan, Liam Herlihy, Eileen Geary. The game continues every Wednesday night at 9pm.
COLLECTION: A collection in aid of Self Help Africa will be taken up at masses in Monagea on this coming weekend, Saturday March 9th and Sunday March 10th. This is a very worthy cause as there is so much real poverty in parts of Africa. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
AGM OF GRAVEYARD COMMITTEE: The AGM of Monagea Community Graveyard will be held on this Tuesday night March 12th at 9pm in the Parish Hall. The committee are responsible for the extension to the old graveyard. Everyone welcome.
CRY MEETING: Following the recent successful launch of the charity 10K walk/run and 80K cycle a meeting, to help the organising of the event, will be held on this Monday night, March 11th, in the Parish Hall Monagea at 8pm. So far the Herlihy and Scanlon families are reporting a great response to the venture. There will be a lot of work to do on May 4th so anyone willing to help are invited to attend this meeting.
AFTERNOON TEA DANCING: The afternoon tea dance at Monagea Parish Hall on Sunday last was the most successful yet with well over one hundred people in attendance. The Premier Blue Boys provided the music and the floor was full all day. A sincere word of thanks to everyone who brought food or spot prizes. Thanks to those who helped to run the dance on the day. The next afternoon tea dance will be on April 7th with Michael Sexton providing the music.
AEROBICS:The aerobics class at Monagea Parish Hall is proving very popular. The class runs every Tuesday night from 7.30 to 8.30pm. If you feel like doing some exercise and getting fit then why not come along to the class on Tuesday night.
DANCING CLASS: The dancing class continues every Thursday night at Monagea Parish Hall from 8.30 to 10.30pm. The class is a great social night out and helps to improve your steps and also to keep fit.
THANKS: Monagea Parish Hall Committee would like to thank Airtricity for the grant which they received in Athea Hall on Thursday night last. This is the second year that the hall has benefitted from this grant scheme.
CEÍLI: There will be a ceíli in Halla Tadhg Gaelach, Tournafulla on this Friday night, March 15th starting at 9.30pm. The music will be provided by Johnny Reidy. Refreshments will be served. Everyone welcome.
FUN 30K CYCLE: A fun 30K cycle will take place on St Patricks Day, Sunday 17th March, starting in Listowel Sports Complex car park at 10am. The cycle will travel to Duagh leaving at 10.30am, then onto Abbeyfeale, leaving the Square at 11am to return to Listowel. On the Return Journey from Abbeyfeale to Listowel we will cycle on the traffic-free Great Southern Trail as far as the Kerry border at Kilmorna, where we will rejoin the main road and cycle back to Listowel via Kilmorna, Bolton’s Cross & Cahirdown. Due back in Listowel at 12 noon, in time for the parade, which starts at 12:30pm this year. Please wear a cycling helmet (obligatory) and high-viz clothes if possible. For small kids on bikes & in prams, there will be a cycle and pram walk around Listowel Town Park, also starting at 10am from the Sports Complex Car Park.
