Apostolic Society: Apostolic workers will hold a fundraising day in aid of the Missions at Twohig’s SuperValu, Askeaton, on Saturday, October 12. Your support for the Missions will be very much appreciated. The annual display and sale of work will be held in the community hall on Sunday, October 20, at 3pm. Donations of cakes, jam, books and toys would be gratefully received by the committee and may be handed into the post office.
Fr Sean’s Fortieth Anniversary: The 7pm mass in St Mary’s Church, Askeaton, on Saturday, October 12, will be a celebration of Fr Sean’s fortieth anniversary of his ordination. Everyone is invited to his mass and there will be refreshments in the community hall immediately afterwards. Local heroes 5km fun run: A sincere thank you to all who took part in the fun run/walk on September 15. €1,500 was raised for the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation. Thanks to all those who contributed on the day, to all who donated baking and to thank who gave sponsorship and to the many people who acted as stewards and helped in any way to make this a successful charity event.
Going to the Dogs: Askeaton GAA are holding their annual dog night on Saturday, November 16, at Limerick Greyhound Stadium. This promises to be a great night’s family entertainment. Tickets are only €10 and under 16 go free. For the €10, you get entry to the track and entry to a Buster Draw for a prize of €500, sponsored by Cois Sionna Credit Union. The club are at present going door-to-door to sell the tickets so please support the club that is supporting all age groups in our community. Work is continuing on the development work on the new pitches and when finished will give us two full-sized playing pitches, an underage pitch and a training pitch. Come on for the fun, get a group of friends together and make it a great night out. Let’s ensure our club facilities are there for future generations.
