SUNDAY AFTERNOON TEA DANCING: On Sunday afternoon last a tea dance was held at Monagea Parish Hall. The very popular Kildare man, Declan Aunger, provided the music. A very big crowd attended and a great afternoon dancing was had. Among the attendance was a couple from Scotland who are on honeymoon in the West Limerick area. The next Sunday afternoon tea dance in Monagea will be held on Sunday November 3rd from 3 to 6pm. The music will be provided by Dermot Lyons. The committee would be delighted if more people from the parish would come along.
CARDS: The first card game of the season in Monagea Parish Hall took place on Wednesday night last. The following were the results 1st Patrick and John Quilligan, 2nd divided four ways Theresa Hough and Tom O’Callaghan, Joan Nash and May O’Brien, Con Cregan and Mike Cronin, Ger and Mary Collins. Table prizes Bridget and Sheila Quirke, Tess Keating and Catherine Wrenne. Raffle Theresa Hough, Pat Condon, Margaret O’Regan, Nell Barry and Catherine Wrenne. The card game continues every Wednesday night at 9pm.
WINNING TEAMS REUNION: A gathering of the Monagea county winning teams of 1986 and 1987 will take place in Tom and Geraldines Bar Strand on Saturday November 2nd. It is hoped that as many of the players as possible will attend and that many other supporters from the parish will also be present for what promises to be a great night.
MONAGEA GAA “300 CLUB” DRAW: The annual Monagea GAA “300 club” draw will commence in early November. It will consist of four draws, all held before Christmas, at a cost of €50. All the usual promoters once again have cards and can be contacted if you wish to join. This is one of the clubs main fundraisers each year and in the past has always been well supported.
DANCING CLASSES: The Thursday night, adult dancing classes, continue every Thursday night from 8.30 to 10.30pm. All levels of dancing are catered for. It is also a great form of exercise. Your support would be appreciated.
AEROBICS & FITNESS CLASSES: The aerobics and fitness classes have recommenced in Monagea Parish Hall. The classes are on every Tuesday night from 7.30 to 8.30pm. With the long winter nights now upon us why not come out for an enjoyable workout with your friends.
NEW MACRA CLUB: A new Macra club is being set up in Limerick to serve the areas of Templeglantine, Abbeyfeale, Mountcollins, Ballagh, Tournafulla, Monagea and surrounds. If you are living in or know anyone in the area aged 17-35 who would be interested in getting involved spread the word. Activities include everything from sports to social nights, drama and travel, agriculture, meeting people and lots more. There will be an information meeting in Templeglantine Community Hall tonight Thursday 3rd October at 8:30pm. All are Welcome.
