Alzheimer’s Tea Day: Thank you on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland to all those who supported the Tea Day in Loughill Resource Centre. To all those who baked, made jams, etc., the ladies who stayed to help all day and to those who sent donations a very big thank you. To date we have €1,460 which will go directly to the Alzheimer’s Society. Thank you all so much.
Mass for Improvement in Weather: Special Mass was offered Tuesday evening in Loughill Church for an improvement to our weather and it will be offered Thursday evening in Ballyhahill Church at 7.30 p.m.
Irish Cancer Society: Thank you for your continued support of the Irish Cancer Society and for your recent annual church gate collection in Ballyhahill which amounted to €127.90.
First Holy Communion: Congratulations to the children who made their First Holy Communion in Loughill Church Saturday.
Respite Care Centre Dromcollogher: Dromcollogher Mayfair Vintage Rally takes place on Sunday 19th May commencing at 13.0 p.m. A great day out for all the family with lots of bargains. Proceeds to the Respite Care Centre.
Parish Hall Committee: The Ballyhahill Parish Hall committee held its AGM last week. The committee members remain in office as follows: Chairperson: Mary O’Brien, Secretary: Peg Prendeville, Treasurers: Deirdre O’Brien and Michael Kearney. Members: John Reidy, Neilie Clifford and Helen Hayes. The Parish Hall is there for the whole community but it must be booked in advance through Neilie.
Masses: Tuesday evening at 7.30 p.m. and Sunday at 10.00 a.m. in Loughill Church: Wednesday and Friday mornings in Ballyhahill Church at 9.00 a.m. Thursday evening at 7.30 p.m. and Saturday evening at 6.00 p.m.
Community Alert: A meeting was held last in the Resource Centre in Loughill Wednesday evening last where it was proposed to have a new Loughill/ Ballyhahill community text alert system set up. There was a large turnout which was great to see but it also highlighted how vulnerable the people of the parish are feeling at the moment with all the latest criminal activity going on. With the much appreciated assistance of the Gardai in Foynes who were in attendance a new committee was formed and the text system was up and running the following day. Any person who wants to obtain the text number can contact Declan Hallett or Ger Griffin Loughill or David Hayes in Ballyhahill. Another meeting will be advertised and will take place in the coming weeks and all support is very welcome. So get texting for that number.
Bally Rovers Soccer Club: We have a lorry coming to the field this Saturday 25th May from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. to collect scrap metal. People with scrap metal can bring it to the field between these hours Saturday. If you cannot bring it yourself you can contact any club member. We will take any type of scrap metal - scrap cars, tractor or car batteries etc.
Bally Rovers: There was no winner of the €19,500 jackpot at the draw which took place at Barr na Sraide in Ballyhahill Wednesday day night last 15th. May. The numbers drawn were as follows: 1, 9, 18, 29
