CARDS: The results of last week’s card game at Monagea Parish Hall were 1st, with ten games, Joan Nash and Mai O’Brien. 2nd, nine games, Peter Culhane and Danny Barry. Table prizes Nell Culhane and Kathleen O’Gorman and Jimmy Murphy and Pat Condon. Raffle Nuala O’Connell, Mary Collins, Mike Cronin, John Upton and Ger Collins. The card game continues on Wednesday nights at 9pm.
LIMERICK GAA DRAW: The Limerick GAA club draw for May took place in Moore’s Bar, Doon recently. Unfortunately Monagea did not have a winner. The top prize of €15,000 went to James O’Donovan of Glin. The next draw will take place on Friday June 7th at Sulley’s Bar, Hospital.
RAMBLING HOUSE: On Thursday May 30th there will be a Rambling House in Monagea Parish Hall. All musicians, singers, storytellers and dancers are welcome. The general public are also invited to form the audience for what is sure to be a great night.
DANCING: The finishing Ceili for the weekly Thursday night dancing classes will take place in the Parish Hall tonight Thursday May 23rd. Music will be provided by Michael Sexton. There will be a break for the summer months and will resume again later in the year.
KILLEEY MC CHARITY GROUP: A small group of motorcycle enthusiasts have come together to organise a motorcycle poker run on Saturday next 25th May from Raheenagh to Ashford in aid of Pieta House. Killeedy MC Charity group are looking for people to contribute to this poker run by either giving a cash donation, sponsoring a spot prize or by purchasing tickets for the raffle which will take place in the Village Inn Ashford on the night of the run. Tickets are €5 each or a book of three for €10. A poker run is an organized event where participants, using motorcycles, and paying an entry fee of €10, must visit five checkpoints, drawing a playing card at each one. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run. The event has a time limit, however the participants are not timed—winning is purely a matter of chance. ALONE WE STAND: A Social evening for men and women who are separated, divorced, widow, widower or single and over 40 will take place on Friday next 24th May at 8.30pm in Spotted Dog, Janesboro, Limerick.
