MURROE COMMUNITY COUNCIL: The Community Council have acquired 6 acres of Land behind the Playground. A Community Consultation Process will take place in the near future on the best use of this land. Fundraising to pay for this project will commence shortly.
BOHER WALK AND RUN: The amount collected to date for the Boher Walk/Run is up to €11,125. The organisers wish to give a special thanks to all who took part in the event and to all who contributed and helped out on the day. Held on St. Stephen’s Day, there was a huge turn-out this year and a great effort was made by all.
MURROE AFC: The under-14 girls moved a step closer to the league title with a 7-0 win over Castle Utd. A Bethany Ranson hat-trick, a brace from the very impressive Ailish Reynolds and further goals from Ruan O’ Donovan and Anna Madigan accounted for Murroe’s tally against a very young Castle side. In the boy’s section, the under-13’s had a 1-1 draw with Cullen/Donohill with Devon Ryan on the mark. The under-12’s had 2 matches, defeating Cappamore 2-0 with Cillian O’ Shea and Jay Ryan scoring for Murroe in the premier league in the afternoon and then playing Rearcross in a friendly under lights in Rearcross that evening also winning 2-0 with Jamie Cummins and Jay Ryan again on the score-sheet. Murroe A Team went top of Division 1A after a superb 6-3 victory over Janesboro last week, with Brian Quinn  Drew Mclean  Philip Clancy and Daragh Ryan scoring the goals.
45 DRIVE RESULTS: The winners of last week’s 45 Drive were: First prize went to Paddy Rainsford & Enda Coughlan and Dick Laffan & Donie Coffey. Second prize went to Michael Gleeson & Breeda Ahern and Pat O’Connor & Patsy Laffan and Tess & Lorraine. Third prize went to Philip Grant & John. Table prizes were won by Joe Carroll & partner and Seamus Ryan & Eugene Doolan.
BOHER COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: The results of last week’s progressive 45 are; 1st: Dan Shanahan and Sean Collins, 2nd: Bob Richardson and Paudie Laffan and 3rd: Paddy O Connor and Patsy Laffan. Table Prizes were won by Eva Barrett and Ita Richardson and Mai Richardson and Caroline. The Parish Social will take place on this Friday, January 3, in the Millennium Centre, Caherconlish. This social promises to be a very enjoyable night with music by Sam O Doherty, dancing and an auction of timber and a variety of surprise items held during the night to help raise funds for the upkeep of our Community Centre. Tickets cost €10 each and are available from committee members. Donations of Spot prizes will also be gratefully received by committee members.
MURROE/BOHER GAA AGM: The AGM of Murroe/Boher GAA Club was held recently in the Harty Park club-house in Murroe. With a great turn-out, officers were elected for the coming season and included discussions on how to improve and develop the club going forward. The following officers were elected on the night; Presidents, Fr Tom Ryan and John Finucane, chairperson, Paul Byrnes, Secretary, Christopher Ryan, Treasurer, Paudie Laffan, PRO, Helen Regan, Vice-Chairperson, Fr Lochlainn Brennan, Assistant Secretary, Pat Walsh, Registrar, Chris Ryan, and Irish Officer, Helen Regan. To assist in the funding of the club for this year, a club lotto has started in the Valley Inn for ten weeks and all are welcome to attend. Lotto tickets cost only €2-00 or €20-00 for the lot.
SCOIL MHUIRE: Scoil Mhuire, Murroe is now accepting applications for enrolment for September, 2014 and enrolment forms are available from the school. Please telephone the school at 061 386116 for further information.
CHURCH NEWS: The Cashel and Emly Lourdes Fundraising draw will take place on March 8, 2014 and there is over €4,000 in cash prizes. There are also two draws for trips for two to Lourdes. Tickets are available from Liz Barron at a cost of €20-00. The Murroe/Boher Parish financial statement is now available at church porches.
MURROE/BOHER CAMOGIE: The Intermediate girls have returned to training and will be training on Monday and Wednesday nights at 7.30 pm in the Harty Park, Murroe.
