Death: The death of Kitty Martin, Ballybrien took place at her residence at an advanced age. The deceased was a very gentle, humble and unassuming lady. She had a great love of nature and animals as could be seen from her array of flowers. A member of the well-known Chamberlain family, she was predeceased by her three brothers one of whom Joe was a well-known local poet. Her remains were removed from her residence for requiem mass in the church of the Assumption Ballylanders celebrated by Fr. Tom Breen, Fr. John Dunne, Fr. Willie Hennessy, and Fr. David Gunne Portmagee. Internment took place in the local cemetery. The very large attendance both at the reposing at her residence, Requiem mass and the final farewell bore testimony to the popularity of the Martin Family. She is sadly missed by her husband Ben, sons Ben, Jack, Seamus, daughters Joan, Kitty, Jacinta, brother in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, grand children, relative’s neighbours and friends. May the green sward of your adopted parish rest lightly on your mortal remains, ar dheis De go raibh a h-ainm Dilis, may she rest in peace.
