Rathkeale and district historical society: The next meeting of the Rathkeale and District Historical Society will be held at 8.30pm January 31 in the Community Arts Centre, Rathkeale. The topics for discussion and the speakers are: Public Transport 1930s - 1950s - John Shanahan; The Development of Foynes Port - Michael Diffley; Establishment of the GAA in Rathkeale - Larry Kelly; Memories of Growing up in Rathkeale - Laura Casey. All are welcomed to attend and admission is free.

Upcoming churchgate collection: Sr. Consilio Fitzgerald of Cuan Mhuire, Bruree House will be holding her annual churchgate collection in Rathkeale next weekend. Events Colaiste na Trócaire: LIT Visit: Fifth Year students attended an Engineering Workshop (Metal Testing) at Limerick Institute of Technology on January 16. This event augments and compliments the Leaving Certificate Engineering syllabus and is aimed primarily at 5th year students. Among the wide variety of topics covered were hardness testing of various metals, microscopic inspection of plain carbon steel and the use of CAM package to produce a component on CNC Milling Machine.
Lime Tree Theatre: Fifth Year students went to see a live performance of Shakespeare’s Othello performed by Cyclone Theatre Company at the Lime Tree Theatre Limerick on Wednesday last. After the performance students were given the opportunity to take part in a workshop on a variety of topics and themes in the play. Throughout the performance the cast interacted with the audience which made it a memorable, educational and entertaining experience for all.
Parent Teacher Meeting: Last Tuesday a parent teacher meeting for second years, fifth years and transition years was held a very large number of parents attended.
Sports: The Munster Senior Camogie Final was played last Monday in Glanmire, unfortunately Coláiste na Trócaire girls were unlucky on the day and lost to the Cork team, however they put in a great performance on the day and throughout the competition.
Sky Sports Initiative: A Sky Sports project is on-going in the school. As part of this project a Sports Mentor works with each participating school and we are delighted that Irish and Munster rugby legend Alan Quinlan was assigned to us. The junior girls soccer team have been selected to work with the programme which is progressing very well at the moment.
