Irish celebrity Muireann O'Connell has opened up about her health after "ignoring the problem" for roughly a year.
The Ireland AM presenter took to her Instagram to share the unusual symptoms she had been experiencing with her ear and taste buds, with a number of her followers diagnosing her with the beginning of perimenopause.
"I've got the itchy ear and then my mouth. My taste buds are either sour or fizzy. I've had that for about a year, and of course, I've been ignoring the problem, which is not very responsible," Muireann said.

She decided to go to the doctor to see what was happening, according to an article by the Irish Mirror.
Muireann updated her Instagram followers, telling them that the doctor said perimenopause was not the issue.
"I thought I was going to be going in, telling her a few bits and pieces and walking out of there with the HRT gel, and that did not happen," she said.
She was given an olive oil treatment for the itchy ear though and shared that it resulted in a "delightful itching experience" that night.

Muireann went on to praise the kindness and patience of her doctor, after she had brought a full list of queries to the appointment.
"My doctor was absolutely lovely, a complete dote. I went in with a massive list and she sat there and went through every single thing with me. She was like, 'Should you not have gone to the doctor sooner?'"
It had been two years since Muireann had been to the doctor, despite her thinking it had only been a few months.
She will be getting her bloods done in a week and a half and is attempting to make an appointment with a speciality clinic to get further check-ups.
It's unknown what exactly is causing the unusual symptoms for the presenter, but it appears she is taking the necessary steps to find out.
