A woman is being treated in hospital following a reported dog attack in Co Carlow.
Gardai said a dog was euthanised by a vet at the scene at a residential property in Carlow town on Tuesday afternoon.
A Garda spokesperson said gardai and emergency services attended following a report of a dog attack at the property.
“A woman, aged in her late 50s, has been removed from the scene by air ambulance to the Mater Hospital Dublin for treatment of injuries believed to be serious,” they said.
“The services of the Dog Warden were requested and the dog was euthanised by a vet at the scene.
“The dog is believed to be of a restricted breed.”
They added that the scene is being preserved for technical examination and that inquiries are ongoing.
