RIP: Gardaí seek witnesses as pedestrian (40s) dies after being hit by a car in Waterford

The road remains closed and preserved for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct an examination of the scene

A man has died after being hit by a car early this morning in Waterford, An Garda Síochána have confirmed. 
Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to this fatal road traffic collision, which took place on the R448 in Sallypark on Sunday, November 23.

Both Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene after a car struck a pedestrian shortly before 2:10am.

The male pedestrian, aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Coroner has been notified and a post mortem examination will take place in due course.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R448 between 1:30am and 2:15am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
