'Would give a Panadol a headache!'- Irish listeners react to major RTE radio shake-up

Angry reactions have been made on social media as RTÉ reveals a major shake-up amid Ray D' Arcy's sudden department and announcement of his replacement quickly after.

Kieran Cuddihy, who is a Newstalk broadcaster, is set to appear in his first interview since being announced as the new host of RTE's Liveline, replacing Ray D'Arcy after 11 years on air.

Mr Cuddihy presented his final Newstalk programme yesterday and colleagues there were informed of his departure on the night.

He has been broadcasting at Newstalk since 2011, and has been presenting 'The Hard Shoulder', a daily news and current affairs programme, since 2020.

On social media, many negative comments have been made by Irish listeners who are not happy about the recent changes.

One person said: "I would unsubscribe from RTE except I would be thrown in prison. All I can do is pay and not watch. You make that part easy. What a snooze fest".

"A weasel with Turkey teeth that would give a Panadol a headache. Nothing more boring than watching one journalist interview another," another person said.

"RTE gets rid of one gobshite and immediately hires another gobshite," someone else commented.

Another comment was made that said: "He is such a dose, not likeable in any way and not very good at questioning either. Very condescending".

"Dear God this show has sunk to low, poor Gay must be turning. Use to sit up with my Mum and Dad even in my teens just watch the great debates, so sad to see these nodding donkeys now," another person said.
