A GoFundMe has gone viral in Ireland with hundreds of people donating to help a two-year-old boy suffering with multiple medical issues after being born premature.

The family from Kildare created a GoFundMe for their son which has raised a whopping €56,515 for the young boy to help his medical costs.

Nickey Junior was born premature at just 27 weeks and has since faces multiple health challenges such as congenital heart disease, chronic lung disease, hyperthyroidism, T21, cleft lip and palate, pulmonary hypertension, and pulmonary stenosis.

According to a GoFundMe set up by his parents, the young baby spent his first nine months in hospital, and even at home, his severe conditions require constant, specialized care.

"Our son tends to stop breathing and go into cardiac arrest from time to time. The hardest truth we face is that our son was discharged from Crumlin hospital for palliative care with no more intervention".

"Day to day life for our son is a struggle as the littlest activities he is drained out and our little man is two now and still has no lower body strength as he is not crawling or walking as of yet as he has multiple devices to help him with this but it's hard to get the size for Nickey as he is underweight and he is finding it hard to gain weight as he is peg fed.

"Also Nickey spends most of his time in and out of hospital for appointments and stays with his health. It's hard to say the treatment our son needs cant be done in Ireland which is very disappointing but as his parents we have not given up on our boy.... we have done a lot of research and video calls with another hospital overseas and they are willing to treat our son but unfortunately like everything else this comes at a great cost," the young boy's parents said.

Nickey's parents said they have to give up work to provide for our son with the 24/7 care he requires, making it incredibly difficult to meet these mounting medical expenses and keep their home running.

"That's why we've created this GoFundMe. Every single donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards Nickey Junior future well-being. Your generosity will help us cover the costs of treatment, hospital stays, operations, and travel expenses as we go on this challenging journey. Please, be a part of Nickey junior story.

"Help us give our little warrior the chance he deserves to live a full and happy life. Your contribution will make a world of difference. With heartfelt gratitude, Mam and dad," The GoFundMe said.

In an update on the GoFundMe, Nickey Junior's parents said: "Early start again this morning back in Crumlin hospital as got a call yesterday to be come up for bloods to do with him not gaining weight and his kidneys hopefully get results shortly as being ongoing investigation into his kidney problems for a while now it be nice to get some answers for our poor little man".
