A man has been arrested after an early-morning crash in Kerry left a cyclist seriously injured.
The road traffic collision occurred on the busy Oakpark Road in Tralee on Wednesday, October 1. Taking place shortly before 7:05am, the incident involved a car and a bicycle.
The cyclist, a man aged in his 40s, was conveyed to University Hospital Kerry for treatment of serious injuries. The road has since reopened.
Just hours after the unfortunate incident, An Garda Síochána confirmed that a man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested in connection with this investigation. He is currently being detained at Tralee Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
Gardaí are now appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the Oakpark Road between 6:45am and 7:15am on Wednesday, October 1 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
