'Ginger Zinger'- Dating site for ginger people launches in Ireland

Tinder for gingers?

A brand new dating app has been launched in Ireland for people with ginger hair or for people who would like to date a redhead.

Around 10 per cent of Irish people are ginger so while it may seem niche, this new app could help a lot of people in Ireland find love.

The new dating app is called Ginger Zinger and was created by David Minns.

Speaking to EVOKE, David Minns, said he spotted a niche in the dating market and his new app aims to bring the redhead community together.

He said: ' I specialise in making niche dating websites. So I make things that are like different, a bit quirky because [dating sites], it's a popular sort of industry, but nobody's really that interested in another sort of Tinder-type site.

'I try to be a bit creative and make something that has different sort of communities or different sort of niches and bring them together.'

When setting up a profile on Ginger Zinger, users can identify as a redhead or as a redhead admirer, and profiles can include up to nine pictures, your location, age, gender, sexuality, description and personal interests, according to EVOKE.

There's no swiping, so it doesn't have to come down to luck - if you see someone you fancy you can contact them right away.

The Ginger Zinger app is also available not only in English but also in Gaeilge and Scots Gaelic.

David told EVOKE that "the people who are on the ginger side is obviously a limited market, but there's still great potential for admirers. So for the people who are redheads, it's the place to be because it's the place where you're the centre of attention versus everyone else.'

To join, users must first download the dating app Greed, and then access Ginger Zinger within it to set up a profile. It's a global app but users can filter by country, as well as distance, if they are unwilling to go long-distance for love.
