Spar has recalled a specific batch of its own-brand Chevre goat’s cheese due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.
Consumers across the country are being advised that Spar has issued a recall on specific batches of their own-brand Chevre goat's cheese.
According to the public notice, issued by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland, the batches in question have been recalled due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.
The implicated batches originated in France and the FSAI says there currently is no evidence that the outbreak is linked to other recent Listeriosis outbreaks which saw read-to-eat meals and a number of spinach and mixed leaves products being recalled.
Consumers are being advised the recalled batches of Spar Chevre goat's cheese have a Use by Date of 12/08/2025.

Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes infection can include mild flu-like symptoms, or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications.
Retailers are being advised to remove the implicated batch from sale and display recall notices at point of sale.
Consumers are being advised not to eat the specified batch, which are being recalled from Spar stores, effective immediately.
