RIP Lawrence 'Lar' Delaney

Tributes have poured in for Lawrence (Lar) Delaney who was sadly found dead at the weekend after being reported missing from Kildare.

23-year-old Lar was from Caragh Lawns, Caragh, Kildare and formerly Prosperous in Kildare and died suddenly on August 9th 2025.

Lawrence will be forever loved and missed by his devoted father John, mother Sharrona, his brothers Martin and Solomon, his sister Maicílí, John's partner Gemma and her family Derv and Mattia, Sandie and Christy and their children, neighbours and his wide circle of friends, according to his RIP.ie death notice. 

In an update on Saturday evening last, gardaí confirmed that a missing person report for Lar was stood down after the tragic discovery of his body. 

They said: "Following the discovery of a man’s body, the missing person appeal for Lawrence (Lar) Delaney (23), who was reported missing from Naas, Co. Kildare, since Friday 8th August 2025, has been stood down.

He was widely known and loved by many people in his community and is remembered as an amazing friend to many.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie for Lar as people are left shocked and heartbroken over his passing.

One mourner wrote, "Lar, I can’t believe your gone you’ll truly be missed, you were such a lovely person always knew how the put a smile on someone’s face with your jokes and laughter. I’ll never forget the memories we have together. Rest in peace Buddy".

Another message said, "Sending my heartfelt condolences to Lars family, such a lovely caring fella who always had a smile on his face who will be missed by many. Rest in Paradise Lar".

"You were the kindest lad I’ve ever known, words can’t explain how much I’m going to miss our chats and laughs together, rest in peace Lar," another person said.

A mother from Kildare said: "I don't know any of you including this beautiful young Man Lar. I felt the need to say, I too am thinking and praying for you all. He sounds like a remarkable person. May he Rest easy now".
