The Army bomb squad carried out a controlled explosion at a home in Wexford today after a targeted garda raid uncovered 'suspect devices', drugs, a gun and a large quantity of ammo.
During the course of a planned search operation targeting criminal activity in the Wexford / Wicklow Division, gardai raided a a house in Gorey, Co Wexford earlier today and uncovered suspect devices.
Gardaí moved to immediately set up a cordon while the Irish Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal team rushed to the scene to conduct a controlled explosion on the suspect devices.
A suspect firearm, along with a large quantity of ammunition, was also seized during the operation and will be sent for technical examination. Suspected cocaine, pending analysis, was also seized during the search.
A woman in her 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at a garda station in the south-east.
The scene is currently being held for technical examination, and investigations are ongoing, gardaí confirmed.
