Unusual sight at Irish airport as Ryanair plane is met by emergency vehicles on runway
There were unusual scenes at Kerry Airport last week when a Ryanair flight captained by pilot George O'Hara arrived on the runway.
The flight was met by two fire rescue vehicle who gave it an effective guard of honour as it they sprayed their hoses over the top of the plane.
The gesture was to mark the penultimate flight of Captain O'Hara, Ryanair's most senior pilot as he caps off a stellar 39-year career with the airline.
Kerry Airport posted a number of images on social media of Captain O'Hara and his flight arriving last Saturday.
They posted: "Captain George O’Hara received a guard of honour from Kerry Airport fire crew after arriving on his penultimate flight in charge.

"Captain O’Hara has given 39 years service with Ryanair and is their most senior pilot. May retirement bring you the same joy and freedom as soaring through the air.
"Here’s to smooth skies ahead and the very best wishes from all at Kerry Airport," they concluded.
