Met Éireann's bank holiday weekend weather forecast predicts 'changeable weather'

'Changeable weather with rain and showers at times but also plenty of dry weather'- Met Éireann

Met Éireann has issued a bank holiday weekend weather forecast which has predicted sunny spells.

"Early sunny spells in eastern areas will give way on Saturday February 1st to mostly cloudy conditions from the west with scattered patches of light rain and drizzle.

However, there will be plenty of dry weather across north Leinster and east Ulster,

Heavier and more persistent rain will develop in the west and southwest during the evening,

Breezy with moderate to fresh southerly winds, strong at times near Atlantic coasts with highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees," Met Éireann said.

"More persistent rain in Atlantic areas early in the night will gradually extend eastwards across the country.

A clearance will follow in the west and southwest before dawn.

Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees, coldest in the morning in the clearance from the rain. Fresh and gusty southerly winds will veer westerly and ease overnight," Met Éireann said.

Sunday February 2nd

Met Éireann said "Rain and drizzle in eastern areas will clear tomorrow morning, becoming dry across the country with good spells of sunshine, turning hazy at times.

It will become cloudier for Atlantic areas later in the afternoon with patchy rain and drizzle following in the evening.

Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with light to moderate west to southwest winds, backing southerly later and increasing moderate to fresh."

Sunday night:
