From today, you’ll spot one or two new changes to An Garda Síochána's uniform, as they head in to help keep people safe in the aftermath of Storm Éowyn.
Some specialist units, such as the Garda Public Order Unit already wear baseball caps, and now, the Gardaí have banded together and worked to introduce a new cap, that they can wear throughout all operational duties.
Along with the new stylish cap, a new sleeveless jacket has also been introduced.
The gillet, which can be worn as a layer in the colder months, and as outer wear in the warmer climate, or when they're back in doors at the station, is welcomed by all the officers.
In a social media post, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána gave more details on why they chose to develop a new hat.
They said, "Modern policing is more complex than ever before, and while responding to fast-paced, evolving and dynamic situations, the cap could be cumbersome and was prone to getting knocked off,
"It’s giving street style," they added.
