'So sad' - Tributes as Irish couple die three days apart week before Christmas

Tributes are being paid this week after the death of a married couple just three days apart.

Vincent West and his wife Doreen both died last week in England with their family and friends at home in Ireland leading tributes to the united pair.

Their joint RIP.ie death notice read: "It is with immense sadness that we announce the deaths of Doreen and Vincent West. Cheslyn Hay, England. Vincent, formerly of Drumlane, Tullynahinera, Castleblayney.

"Doreen died on Tuesday, December 17, and Vincent died on Friday, December 20, peacefully, in England."

They will be "sadly missed and remembered with love by Vincent’s sisters Maureen, Phyllis and Monica, their nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends in both England and Ireland," the notice concluded.

Tributes left on the page included one from one of Vincent's sisters who wrote: "Deepest condolences on the passing of my brother Vincent and his wife Doreen. May they rest in peace."

A further condolence read: "Sincere condolences on the passing of Doreen and Vincie. Nothing but fond memories of them."

Another wrote: "Sympathy to all the West families on the death of Vincent and Doreen. Memories of Vincent visiting us in Tullynahinera (neighbour) in our younger days. Rest in peace."

A fourth read: "Such sad news to hear about you both. I will miss you both so much but have beautiful memories. Rest in peace together uncle Vincie and Doreen."

Doreen and Vincent’s Funeral will take place in England.
